Larchmont Village
$25 per hour for 1 child

Hi, UrbanSitter Parents! I am a childcare professional and enrichment arts educator with several years of experience in providing childcare and early childhood arts education. I have enjoyed providing childcare for UrbanSitter families for over 10 years. I am also an experienced pet sitter. I relocated to Los Angeles, CA near Larchmont Village in the summer of 2020 after residing in Chicago for nearly 20 years, where I taught music and movement arts classes during the school year. I have experience working with families who use gentle parenting and a blend of Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori approaches in their parenting style. My ECE and responsive caregiving approach is rooted in providing children with a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate space to wonder and discover through guided and child-led purposeful play. I also have a host of back pocket open-ended activities that can be readily adapted to align with your child's needs and interests. Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss how I may be able to suit your childcare needs. I look forward to having the opportunity to share my love and passion for early childcare and arts education with you and your family. :) Certifications/Education: B.A. in Theater, Columbia College Chicago; 12 Early Childhood Education CR; Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED, American Heart Association; 30 Day Substitute Teaching Permit. *Up to date on Covid 19 and flu vaccinations. *I have a 3 hour babysitting minimum for nearby families (4 hour minimum for service areas over 2 miles away), and an 8 hour max for one-time and short term recurring jobs. *Cash payment is ok, but Venmo, Zelle, CashApp or credit card payments via Urbansitter.com are preferred. Cancellation Policy: My cancellation policy is case by case, as I want to be fair and sensitive to whatever seems reasonable under each cancellation circumstance. If I am able to find another job to replace the canceled job, I don't expect any compensation. Because I do turn down other work and also rely on the anticipated income earned from UrbanSitter jobs booked more than a week in advance, I typically request payment for 50% of the total hours for the cancelled booking (unless I am able to find another job to replace the cancelled job).

I’m a marketing professional based in Chicago, IL with over 6 years of full-time nannying experience and well over 10 years of childcare experience. I’ve worked with children of all ages, from 4 weeks old to 16 years old. I’m currently open to occasional/date night babysitting and would love to find a few families to work with regularly. I’m a great homework helper and an extremely active sitter. I love getting outside when the kids are up for it, but I’m just as happy getting creative with crafts, games, or whatever they enjoy most.

I’m Carly, and I’ve been a nanny for over 10 years, working with children from newborns to teenagers. Hello! I grew up in the Chicagoland area, but in 2015 I made the big move west to Los Angeles! I work as a production assistant after getting my film degree at Columbia College Chicago, and I love babysitting to fill up my time when I'm not busy with a production! *currently only interested in newborn/infant/baby clients at this time! Trying to keep it extra safe. ****I require all in the families I sit for who are eligible to be vaccinated and extremely covid conscious! ****I have a four hour minimum on weekdays unless you are a regular family of mine and we have discussed it previously. *****I also have a policy of being paid for the entire time I'm booked. Thank you! I have a range of experience with children. I started off mother's helping, then grew to have many families I regularly babysat as they grew up! I've also handled many children working at Vacation Bible School, and I worked for about a year and a half at a preschool. I have also been a full time au pair in Spain for two children. On set I’m often in care of minors, aiding the school teacher in the safety and care of the kids. Children teach me so much about patience, understanding, creativity, and being open-minded - things that I feel I often lose when living in such a fast-paced city area with people only my age. I always look forward to seeing children grow in even the little ways of life. I consider myself very energetic and enthusiastic, so children are often a perfect fit to my overall temperament. I'm also very calm and patient, so I stay level-headed in crazy situations. I am very eager to hear from all of you and meet you and your children!

Back on US and ready to hang! I approach care with the intent of meeting kids and families where they are. To me, this means understanding and engaging with a person based on their current situation, needs, abilities, or emotional state. By doing so, I develop relationships with care, emotional consideration, trust, and humor. I love discovering what excites kids and engaging with them through activities that spark their interests. This might include playing their favorite games (or inventing new ones), reading books, doing art projects, playing outside, going on walks, and more. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children, and that enthusiasm shines through in my interactions. Outside of professional care work, I am an arts administrator with a focus on dance and performance. I have produced dance festivals, performance series, and fundraising events. Recently, I got into the puppet biz—I co-directed my first puppetry piece in 2024 and am currently developing a puppet festival for summer 2025. I am also a collective member and coordinator with the Chicago Childcare Collective (ChiChiCo)—a group of volunteers who support the participation of parents, especially mothers, in racial and economic justice work. I am willing to explore some of the new services, such as pet care, US have added since my hiatus. I grew up with Great Danes and love critters! Policies & Guidelines Cancellations 1. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. I set aside this time specifically for your booking, and last-minute cancellations prevent me from connecting with other families. 2. If you no-show, I ask to be compensated for the full booking. Minimum Booking Requirement 1. I prefer a minimum booking of four hours. 2. Since I plan my time and budget around scheduled hours, I kindly request payment for the full booking, even if you arrive home early. Interviews 1. Please avoid scheduling interviews on Friday and Saturday evenings. 2. Phone interviews are preferred. Safety All firearms and weapons in the home must be safely locked and secured. COVID Precautions 1. I will remain masked indoors. 2. During sleep hours, I may request to unmask depending on your comfort level and proximity to the child.
