Meet college nannies and sitters from Saint Mary's College

Hello, My name is Dorah and I am a senior at Saint Mary's College with a Physics major and a Philosophy minor. I would love to help out in any way that I can and I love children; that is why I am on UrbanSitter. I am a daughter of 5 hailing from a southern suburb of Chicago. I have taken care of my younger sister in her younger years and I take care of my grandfather whenever I am home. I am very experienced in taking care of children of all ages and have a good bit of my experience sitting a 3 and 7 year old in the south bend area with past experience sitting as young as 2 years old. I’m a college student who has always loved being around children and helping care for them. I grew up in a neighborhood with a lot of younger kids, so I was always around children and enjoyed babysitting, playing with them, and helping out whenever I could. More recently, I had the opportunity to work as a full-time nanny, which gave me much more hands-on experience and helped me realize how much I genuinely enjoy being a caregiver. As a nanny, I became comfortable with the everyday responsibilities that come with caring for children, including keeping them safe and entertained, preparing meals and snacks, helping with homework, coming up with activities, and keeping up with routines and schedules. I really enjoy finding activities that match a child's personality and interests rather than just keeping them occupied. I also understand that every family has their own routines and expectations, and I’m very comfortable adapting to what works best for them. I would describe myself as patient, caring, responsible, dependable, and easygoing. I’m someone who stays calm when things get hectic and understands that kids can have good days and difficult days. I think one of the most important parts of being a caregiver is making children feel comfortable, listened to, and cared for while still providing structure when they need it. I’m also very attentive to the little things. I want parents to feel comfortable knowing that their children are safe and that I’m paying attention to what they need. I enjoy building relationships with the families I work with and becoming someone they can trust and rely on. I’m not just looking to watch kids for a few hours—I really enjoy getting to know them, being involved in their day, and making sure they have a positive experience while they’re in my care. Overall, my previous nanny experience, years of being around younger children, and genuine love for working with kids are what I feel make me a great caregiver. I’m excited to continue gaining experience with different families and children and hopefully become someone a family feels completely comfortable having as part of their routine.
