Hello, I’m Jemma! I’m a credentialed history teacher currently earning my master’s in U.S. History. I have over eight years of experience working with kids ages 6–14 as an outdoor educator and camp counselor, and I’ve also spent several years babysitting younger children. I love creating engaging, hands-on activities and am always looking for new ways to spark creativity and joy in the kids I care for. I’m CPR/First Aid certified and a certified Wilderness First Responder, so your child’s safety is always a top priority. I bring patience, energy, and a deep respect for each child’s unique personality to every babysitting job. Fun fact: I speak fluent Mandarin and have spent a lot of time in Taiwan! Whether you're looking for a date night sitter or weekend help, I’d love to support your family with reliable, caring, and experienced childcare.
Hi! I began babysitting in high school and have been working with kids ever since. Throughout college, I worked at an outdoor day camp with preschool and elementary-aged kids. Upon graduating college, I got a job working as a science and garden teacher in a San Francisco elementary school, teaching classes about nature, biology, ecology, gardening, and food. I stayed in that role for 3 years and worked as a part time nanny and babysat throughout that time as well. I now work as a massage therapist in Berkeley and miss getting to work regularly with kids. When working with kids, I prioritize play, learning, and connection, but I also am confident in setting boundaries and expectations when it comes to safety and your family's rules! I have training in social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practice and feel comfortable setting those boundaries in a way that still expresses care and connection. If you have a child with music, art, or food interests, I am happy to help out with those! I have been playing jazz bass for 13 years, have spent a lot of time doing various kinds of art (and have led art weeks at camps), and have led cooking classes with kids. I have also played a lot different sports, including ultimate frisbee, soccer, water polo, lacrosse, and basketball, and would be happy to pass a ball with a sport-enthusiast. I am happy to do various tasks, including making dinner, helping with homework, getting outside, etc. I am able to drive and have a car, so I can also pick kids up/drop them off if need be. I am happy to answer any other questions you may have about my experience! Thanks!
