I am a true Mary Poppins! Just like Mary, I have been many things in my life, but being a teacher and nanny are my favorites. Originally from Germany (born and raised), I came here with my husband who was stationed in my hometown. As a career member of the AF, we moved all over the globe until he retired, and we settled here in CO. Children have always been my passion (I have two of my own), and it was logical for me to become a teacher. I taught middle school, 7th and 8th grade, while we were stationed in CA in language arts and social studies. I am a writer as well and have finished 3 novels. I love to exercise and power walk with my little pup, Helo, every day. I do pilates for core strength and dance (even when others watch). I have been a nanny for the past 11 years and worked with children of a wide range of ages (2 months 8 years), but I specialize in infants and toddlers. I love taking my charges outdoors for adventures or finding 'treasures' in the dirt. When the weather isn't up for it, I do art projects, building 'castles' inside or put up a fairy tree to invite the fae into the house (they bring good luck). Since I am a writer, not only do I read a lot myself, but I love to read with the children. Depending on the age, it's beneficial for them to discuss the book or story for comprehension or just for fun to get a different take on the stories. Children have a wonderful way of seeing things in a different light. They are always in the moment and can teach us so many wonderful things, things we have forgotten as adults. I am bi-lingual and love to introduce my language and culture to the children. The sooner you teach the little ones a different language, the better and the easier it is for them to learn it. Little kids' brains are like sponges; they soak up knowledge in an amazing rate. I also hold a degree in criminal research from Berlin/Germany; and degrees from UNO in English Literature and Victorian History.
Hello everyone! My name is Amy. I am new to the app. I have been a special needs caregiver for 15 years. Currently I help manage a special needs group home. I’m comfortable with all ages, as well as pets (I have 2 dogs, 1 cat). I’m good with running errands, light housework, meal making, feeding, bathing, changing diapers, home organization, homework assistance, pet care, driving, sports, activities, etc. I coach soccer for my stepkids and I love keeping kids active. I’m CPR/First Aid certified as well as certified as a caregiver. I am looking to make a change from my special needs group home career into nannying while I go back to school to receive my Masters. I’m reliable, responsible, patient, kind and understanding. My top priority is to make sure your child feels safe, happy and cared for. References available. I look forward to meeting you soon! :)
