Hi, I’m Melissa and I keep my calendar up to date! Parents have told me they’ve had a lot of sitters they’ve booked on UrbanSitter cancel or not show up. I find that shocking! You can count on me. 💗 Parents of type 1 diabetics—I got you. I can carb count, monitor CGM, site changes, treat highs & lows, the whole thing. I’ve been type 1 since age 8 and I use a Tandem pump with Dexcom. I've been sitting through this site since Nov 2013, usually ~30 hours per week. I've seen it all! My style with kids depends on the type of people they are (kids’ personalities vary just like adults’ do) and what the parents advise and prefer. I'm flexible! I love to travel to parks, I have a lot of great crafts up my sleeve, I know endless children's songs, I'll do as much physically active play as my body can take! I want the kids to have a good time and remember their experience with me fondly, while also keeping everyone safe & sound. I love hanging out with little folks. I love to hear what they think and see life through their eyes. Kids have unique perspectives. They are learning so much so quickly and from everywhere they can, so it's incredibly important to be mindful of that as a caretaker, modeling patience, good humor, seriousness when it's important to be serious, and attentiveness to the emotional needs of others. Kids can be funny, cute, curious, sweet, accidentally profound, and often super-bossy. They're exhausting in the best possible way. I also just adore infants and toddlers and I could hold them and play with them all day! I have been known to quickly figure out how to accommodate even the most challenging babies. I aim to be flexible! It’s OK if you need to cancel, I will not be upset or expect payment. It's perfectly OK to come home early, I will not expect payment for the full booking time. I will always stay longer if you need me to as well, so long as it doesn't interfere with another booking. I understand life is unpredictable and I hope I can make life easier for parents. Just keep me in the loop and I'll do the same.

Hello! I have worked with families with newborns to preteens and as an educator with students from 2nd grade to 12th grade over the past 9 years. I’ve created steam and art programs for all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, that engage a diversity of learners. I’m especially interested in organizing non-screen related activities. Currently I am an artist with flexible hours. I'm available for household services, as well. I love cooking, art and the outdoors! Note: any shift over 8 hours will have an additional overtime fee (multi-day commitments excluded)

Hi! My name is Grace and I’m a 23 year old Pitt graduate. I currently work full time as a marketing and events coordinator, but have a lot of free time to care for your family! I’ve been babysitting since I was 13 and have experience with kids of all ages. My sister has four kids that I watch frequently when I’m back home in Jersey. She has a 7 year old, 5 year old, 2 year old, and 5 month old. So I can change a diaper one second and be playing trucks the next. I also have experience tutoring if the kiddos need some help with homework! I’ve been living in the city for 6 years now, so I’m very comfortable driving if needed. As far as senior care, I frequently took care of my grandpa as he had Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. He always told me I should work in a nursing home…but unfortunately that wasn’t really my first calling. I am an animal lover so happy to take care of pets and am also able to run any errands or do housework if needed. Some facts about me! I am originally from New Jersey but loved Pittsburgh so much that I decided to stay. I’m a huge Pitt fan and am very excited to cheer them on this year. I love crafting, playing tennis, and cooking! I look forward to working with you!
Hi! I am a recent graduate from Pitt. I am 22 years old and currently taking a gap year before applying to medical school. During my gap year, I am taking an EMT class this summer to work in emergency medicine. I am interested in becoming a child psychiatrist. I have a strong passion for helping families feel supported and cared for. I have experience working in hospitals, so I am CPR and BLS certified. I have a year of experience babysitting for a family with 4 children (12 y/o girl, 9 y/o girl, 6 y/o boy, and 3 y/o boy). I love spending time with children of all ages. I enjoy being outside and active. I also love arts and crafts (mess-free of course). I am hard-working, spirited, and enthusiastic.
I'm a high school teacher Special Education teacher with experience watching cats of all types. Proud mother of one 5 year old cat.
Hello, in addition to raising my own two children, now ages 11 and 15, I have a variety of experiences with working with kids at summer camps, after-school tutoring programs, and babysitting. I am comfortable working with all ages and have experience working with children on the autism spectrum. I also love animals and would be happy to help take care of your pets.

Hi there, my name is Andrew! I am a 3rd year nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh who hopes to work as a neonatal or pediatric nurse. My expertise is particularly focused towards caring for newborns and infants. Children bring so much joy into our lives and safety is my upmost priority. I have 2 years of previous work experience as a babysitter as well as 1 year of inpatient hospital experience in the postpartum unit and newborn nursery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I am comfortable with nightshift work, twins, and medically complex infants/kids. As part of my nursing education I am trained in adult and senior care as well. As a requirement for my work I have been cleared by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services for work with children. The Pennsylvania State Police have attested that I do not have a criminal record. I am certified by the American Heart Association for infant, child, and adult CPR and other life support & first aid techniques. I would be happy to provide these documents upon request. In my free time I enjoy knitting, watching TV with my cat, drawing, and reading. I am very crafty, so if your kid(s) love art or science, we will likely get along great! I have always been drawn to cats and dogs, but am willing to branch out and meet other animals! I grew up with dogs, had a 10 gallon fish tank, and now have a cat named Buttermilk! On Mondays and Wednesdays between 11:30am and 4:30pm I am a teaching assistant and researcher at Pitt and will not be available those hours. I offer sliding scale rates for low income or single parent households. I understand how difficult it can be to find a caretaker who fits your needs and who you trust with your family, so I am available for zoom or in person interview. It is my goal to match with a family who are looking for a reliable babysitter for their kids long term! I appreciate your consideration and hope to be in contact with you soon!
Hi, I’m Tess! I’ve been caring for kids for over 10 years, from energetic toddlers to busy teens. I also spent 3 years as a camp counselor and wilderness guide, where I led groups of girls into the Boundary Waters and taught outdoor skills, independence, and teamwork. Those experiences gave me a deep love for supporting kids as they learn, grow, and build confidence. Alongside childcare, I work as a household manager — keeping schedules organized, prepping meals, running errands, and making sure the home runs smoothly day to day. Families I’ve worked with appreciate that I’m reliable, creative, and calm under pressure, whether it’s helping with homework, keeping routines on track, or planning fun activities. I’m also preparing to attend grad school in child psychology, with the goal of specializing in adolescent development. Caring for children isn’t just a job for me — it’s part of the path I’ve chosen for my career and future.
I have over 25 years caregiving experience and a Masters in Social Work. I have cared for and/or worked with people of all ages including in day cares, schools, in homes and in foster care, hospitals, in the community. I have experience with hospice care as a Social Worker, not an RN. My career has been focused on working with folks having mental health and/or behavioral issues, those needing psychiatric care, developmental, and/or medical care and case management. I have an active license in CPR, First Aid, and CPI. I’ve owned and cared for pets my entire life. Currently, I care for, and deeply love, an Australian Cattle Dog named Fennel. I recently lost my job and am looking for work. I am open to various offers and opportunities. My hourly rate starts at $25 an hour, cost depends on the need and logistics.
