Child Development Coursework

I started as a mother’s helper/babysitter for short periods when I was 12, and was babysitting independently by the time I was 14. Throughout high school, I watched children from several families, ranging in size from only children to up to 5 children at a time.

I taught swim lessons (ages 0-12) and piano lessons (preschool aged) as a teenager. As a lifeguard at a public pool, I became very comfortable addressing water safety concerns with children in an educational way. 

Throughout undergrad, I engaged in volunteer opportunities tutoring school aged children, and also watched children while parents participated in research. Through these experiences, I am skilled at quickly developing rapport with children and adapting play activities to various settings. 

Throughout my masters program, I nannied for multiple families, with children ranging in age from 0-7. I watched families with multiple children and was responsible for activities from supervising swimming to bed time routines.
