Growing up in Westfield and graduating from Westfield High School in 2014, I have always been deeply connected to my community, especially through childcare. Throughout my childhood, I served as the neighborhood babysitter, gaining invaluable experience by working with children of all ages. My neighbors were foster parents, so I often assisted in caring for children with varying needs, including infants requiring specialized care, such as oxygen tanks and feeding tubes. This exposure gave me both the confidence and compassion necessary to handle diverse childcare situations. For the last 10 years, I have worked in the restaurant industry. While I learned a great deal about responsibility, customer service, and teamwork, I am now looking for a more fulfilling career path—one that brings me back to what I love: helping my local community and working closely with children. I find joy in creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. In addition to my experience, I bring a strong sense of reliability. Hi! My name is Kirsten. I'm a 36 year old mom to two teens, (16 & 17), wife, and dog mom. For the past 9 years, I have been exclusively providing childcare for families with children ranging from 4 months to 12 years. Everything from age appropriate engaged play, assisting with sleep training, transportation to and from sports, helping with meal prep, cooking dinner, participating with littles in activities such as swim lessons or tumbling class, homework help, household cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, crafts, outdoor adventures and just about everything in between. Then by 2020 I applied to a full-time job as a teacher at Bright horizons in Kirkland. My proudest accomplishment is raising my two sons into caring young adults. Second proudest is earning my degree in elementary education at 40 years old. I have always had a love for working with children and helping them grow and learn. I currently work as a substitute teacher for Tacoma Public Schools, so my schedule is flexible. When my younger son was a toddler, he joined me at my job as a daycare assistant, where I assisted caring for a small group of toddlers, as well as provided one on one care for a sweet baby from when he was three months old until he turned one. I have stayed in touch with their family and have enjoyed seeing the young man he has become. I also spend a lot of time with my 5 year old twin nieces, and we love dancing, reading, and going on nature walks. I have experience in creating engaging and educational activities for children of all ages. I am currently learning ASL through weekly online classes. I believe in open communication with both parents and children. I am always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that each child in my care feels loved, safe, supported, and valued. Hello, I am a proud Houstonian, mother of two daughters, a grandmother of a granddaughter age 15, and a grandson 13 months-old. ( I currently care for him during the day.) My love for caring for children began in high school. For the summers I worked with the infants and toddlers as a teacher's helper at the University of Houston Child Care Center. I enjoyed every summer I worked with them. At age 24 I became a Cosmetology Operator, then 10 years later I moved on to become an instructor at Paul Mitchel The School Houston (2[removed]) then in Austin (2019-2022). This is where I gained my passion for teaching, and my commpassion, understanding and patience for youth and young adults. My most recent experiences of working with kindergarteners to the high school student was as a substituted with the Alvin ISD SPED department.(2023-2024). During the summers, I worked as a Certified Job Coach for the Summer Earn And Learn program, where I work along side teens, with disabilities, as they become acclimate with their new job's roles and responsibilities. I am also certified in First Aid and CPR, and currently enrolled in Western Governors University to acquire a BA degree in Special Education.
