Hello, my name is Talia. I am a recent graduate of Western Washington University, majoring in English with a focus on Creative Writing. I have experience caring for pets and children above the age of two. I am passionate about the creative and intellectual development of children, and see great value in promoting imagination and stimulation through storytelling, play, and music. In addition to caretaking, I offer guitar lessons, tutoring, and housekeeping services. If you are looking for a compassionate caretaker who prioritizes safety and can tailor activities to your child's interests and needs, please reach out to schedule an interview.

Meghan $20 per hour for 1 child

Hi! I’m a second grade teacher in the MCPS district with a passion for working with children. Before becoming a teacher, I spent 12 years as a barber, where I built strong connections with kids and families. I’ve also been babysitting since my early teenage years, so caring for children has always been a big part of my life. I love creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for kids. I’m happy to help with homework, plan creative activities, go on nature walks, drive to and from extracurriculars, assist with housekeeping, and, of course, be a little silly and have fun! I am seeking summer employment, but until then, I’m available on weeknights and weekends, and I’m also open to last-minute care when you need an extra hand.

Bennett $25 per hour for 1 child

I'm a married, 35 year-old journalist in a transition phase. Previously, I worked for 10 years as a lifeguard and swim instructor, so I have plenty of experience working with children (infants up to young teens). I'm mild-mannered, calm and patient. I have a sweet little dog named Jacuzzi and we often dog-sit for others, so I'm very comfortable around dogs and all kinds of pets. I'm also a bit of a clean freak and organizer, so I don't mind doing stuff around the house or in the yard, etc.

Alison $35 per hour for 1 child

I have been a nanny for infants and toddlers for the past 3 years. Before this time, I worked as teacher's aide, after-school program teacher and administrative assistant. I have an Early Childcare Certificate, a current First Aid/CPR Certificate for Infants - Adults, Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate, and Public Information degree. I care deeply about forming a strong bond with the children I care for and love introducing them to various experiences that build their awareness of themselves, others and the world around them. In addition, I believe in offering gentle guidance to children in a respectful, kind, instructive and even fun way. During my time with children, I do activities and engage with them in a way that sparks their curiosity, builds their knowledge and skills, follows their interests, helps them learn age-appropriate socio-emotional and communication skills. Based on several factors, I may use redirection, modeling what I want them to do or say, several reminders to reinforce behavior expectations such as washing hands after outside play and before meals, offering "first this, then that" or a choice of what to do first when both activities are required, advanced notice before transitioning to something else, and other age-appropriate caregiving practices. As a strong empath, I want to use my innate ability to connect with children (and all people) in a way that helps them feel understood, valued, worthy of kindness and attention, great for who they are JUST AS THEY ARE, and safe. I've found that I can't nurture children as deeply as I'd like and, in the case of very young children, to the degree I feel they need as they learn about themselves, others and their world.
