Hi! I'm Cheyanne, a college student studying pre-nursing with a dream of becoming a Labor & Delivery nurse. Caring for others isn't just something I do, it's genuinely who I am. I've been a trusted caregiver for over 10 years, looking after my nieces, nephews, and children of extended family and friends from infancy through school age. I grew up fast and took on a nurturing, reliable role with my siblings from a young age, and that sense of responsibility has only grown stronger over time. Families know me as someone who shows up, stays calm, and genuinely invests in the children I care for. Professionally, I'm currently volunteering weekly in a NICU, where I spend time reading to newborns and infants who are navigating serious illnesses and medical challenges during their earliest days of life. It's taught me patience, gentleness, and a deep attentiveness to the needs of the most vulnerable little ones and it's one of the most meaningful things I do. Reading has always been a passion of mine, so getting to share that with babies who need comfort and connection feels like exactly where I'm supposed to be. I also have volunteered with the East Oakland Collective for the past few years, a community organization dedicated to supporting Oakland's most vulnerable residents. It's an experience that has deepened my empathy and commitment to showing up consistently for others. Beyond childcare, I'm happy to help with cooking, light household tasks, or errands — whatever makes your family's day run a little smoother. When I'm not caregiving or studying, you'll find me reading, writing, or staying active. I'm a former track athlete and exercise is still a big part of my life. I also keep a Substack as a creative outlet and a way to express myself. I'm a big believer that curiosity, movement, and storytelling are all gifts worth nurturing in children too. What sets me apart is the heart I bring to this work. My nursing path has shaped me into someone who is compassionate, patient, and dependable, and I take that same standard of care into every family I work with.
