Hello! My name is Katlyn- I’m a kind and outgoing design major, currently attending Wayne State University. I’m going into my last year of school for my Bachelors in the fall! I love to spend my time planning fun and creative activities, going to the park and ( very recreationally ) playing sports like volleyball, throwing a football, or doing yoga. Video games have always been a super fun way for me to let loose and turn my brain off at the end of the day. As for my professional experience, I spent a few years with the YMCA doing before and afterschool care. I worked with Elementary School kids attending the UPA Charter Schools across Detroit. Children I worked with typically ranged from ages 5-12, and I’d supervise them in groups of 10-15, so I’m absolutely equipped for a fast-paced ( and high energy ) environment! Over my time there I enjoyed developing and implementing an engaging and creative after-care program schedule. There’s plenty of extensive training that I’ve had the opportunity to develop as well, including playground safety classes, CPR training, behavioral management courses, and more. I love a structured environment, and developing something that is just as fun as it is reliable and rewarding. Being a good role model and providing a safe space for a child to learn, grow, and thrive is something I find very rewarding!
