Hiya! I’m Nell, a senior Acting major at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. I have several years of experience working with children and love creating a fun, supportive environment where kids feel comfortable and engaged. I’ve babysat a 4–6 year old, helping with meals, playtime, reading, and bedtime routines. For the past three summers, I’ve also worked as a summer school and camp assistant teacher for elementary school students. During those summers, I worked with a cooking education program called Radical Cooks in California, where we taught kids how to cook French recipes. I mostly assisted the instructor but also led my own classes about once a week, teaching groups of 12–20 kids. Hi Families, My name is Ruthie B and I have worked in childcare and senior care for 5+ years. I have a B.A. from Pitt in Media and Communication with a focus in Professional Writing. I started out with babysitting for friends and family. Eventually I was hired at Beth Jacob Preschool at the request of the parents who were my clients. My formal training has mostly been in the Reggio style, but I have learned and incorporated methods of Montessori as well.I am certified in CPR and I have been for many years. I have been trained and certified for child and infant CPR training specifically. I am also certified for ECE-4 Behavior In The Early Childhood Classroom (Certificate available up request.) My favorite ages are the preschool years. Personally, I believe in fresh air, relentless positive reinforcement, active play, healthy boundaries and honest communication between child and caregiver. I try to lead from there. One of my favorite things to do for the kids I work with is to bring a "bag of fun" with me to the job. I like to include simple, fun things that most kids enjoy, like stickers and bubbles, for the children to explore. This gives the parents a chance to leave on a happy note, and also usually gets kids off screens for at least a few minutes. I do most enjoy sharing new children's books and great children's books authors that they have not yet discovered. The services I am currently offering include childcare/nannying, babysitting, light housekeeping/household assistance and meal prep, local errands, I use public transportation and ride service, but I don't foresee that being an expense for my clients. I have availability throughout the week excluding Friday nights and Saturday morning.
