Greetings families :) I was born and raised in the Philippines where I gained experience teaching children basic reading, writing, drawing, and conflict resolution during high school. I have been in the US since July 2011. I graduated from Santa Monica College with high honors in Early Childhood Education in June 2019. I earned my BA in Child Development from CA State University Long Beach with Magna Cum Laude honors in Fall 2021. I've gained practicum experience at the Growing Place Ocean Park and Marine Campus which both hold the same philosophy I believe in - constructivism. Through this lens, children learn best through play - based on their interests and engagement, which encompasses a broad spectrum of academic subject matter including science, math, arts, and problem solving. Play also presents the opportunity for children to develop prosocial behavior and self-regulation among peers, necessary to succeed not just in academia but in life. I am also a firm advocate of respectful, responsive, and reciprocal care wherein children are valued with consistency. They are human beings capable of learning through trial and error - born with a drive to engage in the scientific method to reach their own conclusions about the world around them. As a caregiver, it is not only my responsibility to support their development by extending their interests through scaffolding but also follow their parents’ lead with methods and philosophies at home. I have also gained experience at Early Head Start Programs in addition to working for Edgewater Preschool, West Hollywood Preschool, and Westside Children’s Center. I have a current BLS certification, clean driving record/background, and would be willing to take any drug test. I also have up to date immunizations and a negative TB test. Moreover, I am a happy mother of a 5-year old active boy! Growing up, I learned how to play the guitar and drums, how to dance ballet, act in theater plays, and defend myself through Aikido. During my free time, I enjoy surfing, hiking, walking, cooking, cleaning the house, and reading. I also like to paint, draw, and write whenever I can. Hi parents! A little about me: I'm an independent visual artist, musician, and dancer, and I like to write, read, study languages, spend time with animals, and travel. I graduated with a BA from University of San Francisco in 2014, as a Media Studies major with Spanish and Gender Studies minors. I am vaccinated for COVID-19 and promptly receive booster vaccinations. I have tons of experience with kids! I have used UrbanSitter since 2012, and have had the opportunity to work with kids of all ages - particularly infants as young as 3 months, toddlers, and 3-to-5-year olds. I’m great with older kids as well - in the past I have also coached cheerleading to ages 6-14, worked as a lifeguard and swimming instructor for children aged 6 months to 13 years, tutored middle school-aged kids in a variety of subjects, and worked in a candy store swarming with little ones. So I am comfortable and confident in babysitting for all ages! I am also CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certified. I am well-versed in composting/recycling and other environmental concerns, and am happy to teach children about eco-friendly practices. And most importantly - I love being around kids (and animals)! My favorite activities to do with kids are that of the artistic and adventurous variety...I am happy to spend an afternoon watercolor painting, exploring a new park, making crafts, baking vegan cookies, or navigating a museum. The more engaging the better - if it's a nice day I'd rather be outside taking a walk or traipsing on the beach! I am dedicated to nurturing your child's curiosity, creative-thinking, and adventurous spirit - as these are qualities in myself that I am happy to have harnessed at a young age. Hello! I am Los Angeles based, working part time in advertising and looking for a regular part time or occasional childcare position, ideally 10-15 hours a week. I am one of six kids and began working with children at the age of 13. I'm now in my thirties, with many years of nannying behind me. I have taken care of children of all ages and stages of childhood. I have been certified in CPR in the past, and would be willing to update that certification if needed. I am fun, present, and engaging with children. I believe in the importance of enjoying nature, and will often take children on hikes or other outdoor excursions. As a former ballet dancer, I have taught children's dance classes and encourage creative expression in whichever form it might appear. In prior nanny positions I've offered tutoring/homework help with elementary and high school courses. I'm happy to cook, have no problem dropping off/picking up at school, and do have my own vehicle if any transportation is needed. I am also willing to do light house cleaning. I encourage creativity and growth with the children and allow for a fun and safe environment to learn and play, while being sensitive to each little one's individual needs. Hi there, I’m Avalon! I am an actor and recently moved to Los Angeles from Manhattan where I attended NYU’s Grad Acting program at Tisch School of the Arts. I spent nearly a decade in Manhattan, where I first moved in 2015 to pursue my undergraduate degree at Fordham University. Soon after my arrival, I started professionally nannying around Manhattan and Brooklyn. Throughout my 10+ years of experience, I have provided for families with a variety of needs. From taking care of a newborns, to after school care, to assisting in household management, I have done it all. I have found that my artistic pursuits as well as my experience in teaching theater school-age children complement my child care work extremely well.
