Hi! My name is Nazrin. I’m a lab manager for the Dunn Lab at UCSF Mission Bay. I love working with kids so I also work part-time at Christ Church East Bay. With a background in science, I enjoy tutoring and reading with children to support their vocabulary and development. I have experience caring for school-aged kids, pre-school, and toddlers. I’d be more than happy to look after younger children as well if given a chance/training. I managed a childcare department at the YMCA in Redding, CA for 2 years and have worked in childcare and nannying for 8 years, half of that being in the Bay Area. I've worked with all ages from newborn up to teenagers, with an large cluster of those being around ages 4-10. Every age comes with its own delights, challenges, and needs, and I enjoy learning the particularities of what will work for each family and child. I love being active and incorporate movement into my care as much as I can, whether that's playing soccer in the yard, turning on music for a dance party, or going for walks or bike rides. Creative projects are also a big part of my life, and I often bring in crafts and hands-on activities. Drawing a favorite object, making a mosaic out of stones at the park, bringing my latest knitting project as a little show and tell -- there are so many ways to engage creatively! My goal is to make sure every child is safe, happy, and feels engaged with. I grew up in a large, formerly Amish family and have been around and watching kids my whole life. I’m a recent political economy graduate from UC Berkeley, currently doing oral history and linguistic work when I'm not caring for children.

I have a strong caregiving background shaped by years of hands-on experience with children, seniors, and pets. I grew up helping care for my younger sister, who is now 17, as well as several younger cousins, which taught me patience, responsibility, and how to create a safe, fun environment for kids of different ages. I also have experience in senior care, most meaningfully, I cared for my great-grandpa when he was 92. Supporting him with daily tasks, companionship, and mobility needs, helped me develop empathy, attentiveness, and the ability to stay calm and supportive in sensitive situations. I am also very comfortable with pets. I have two cats and a dog of my own, so I am used to feeding schedules, walks, and playtime. and managing different personalities and energy levels. Overall, I am reliable, compassionate, and easy to communicate with. I am naturally patient detail detail-oriented, and respectful of family routines. whether it is helping with kids, seniors, pets, or household tasks.
