Hi. My name is Pamela and I have been a childcare provider for over 20 years. When I moved to the Bay Area in 1989, I worked at St. Johns Infant -Toddler Center. From there, I moved to working with preschoolers then finally, I got my teaching credential. I have been working with elementary school children in Oakland since 1993. I love spending time with kids. I make up weekend field trips with my students and dream of having my own weekend outing association for kids in the future. I enjoy taking kids to parks, making up crazy songs and stories and basically being creative. I always bring new, fun things for kids to engage with- clay, cool pop-up books, spinning toys... I feel very comfortable with children and it's mutual. I don't believe in plopping kids in front of a screen when I babysit. I engage them in fun activities and make sure they are never bored. I believe in eating healthy and try to support families if they have that same belief. Go out, have fun and know that your children are in competent hands!
“Pamela was great with our 2 year old even though he was sick. We highly recommend Pamela and would love to work with her again.”
Hi ! My name is Mariana and I’m currently living in Emeryville. I’m a reliable person, I love animals so I’m also able to be a petsitter. Looking forward to connect with you! I am responsible, committed and respectful.
Hello, I am Julia. I am a teacher with over 7 years of experience caring for and providing education to children. 2 years ago I established myself as an independent teacher after having worked as an Early Childhood educator in a Waldorf school for 5 years. As an independent teacher I specialize in teaching sewing and clothing design. I also enjoy providing care for young children and pets. I am a very attentive and gentle woman with lots of experience as a teacher and I possess a natural care giving ability. I have mainly taught children ages 2-11, along with recently providing care for a young man of 22 years who had a disability. I have been teaching clothing design & sewing over the past 9 years. I really value fostering the creativity of children and enjoy assisting them in bringing their ideas to life. I am Waldorf trained and I believe in the importance of nurturing the holistic well being of young children. I have been making clothing since I was 7 years old and I am trained in clothing construction and clothing design, having operated my own clothing line for 4 years before my teaching career started. I also love to cook, paint, decorate homes and participate in many creative activities. One of my main love languages is cooking for others. I have lots of experience with animals. I fostered rescue cats for 4 years and I also do pet setting. I know how to administer medicines and offer a calm environment. I also have recently become a certified yoga teacher and I have also started to teach yoga classes. I am also offering that within my care services.
“Julia has been great so far - fun for the kids, responsible, creative, clearly communicating and guiding the children. ”
Hi - My name is Thalissa but you can call me Thali! I’ve been working with kids since I was 16, but my first experience came with my little sister’s birth almost 20 years ago. I started by taking care of her and then began babysitting for my neighbors back in Brazil. I’ve been working with different families in America since I got here 9 years ago. I am in the Berkeley area but also have worked in Oakland, Piedmont, Orinda, Moraga, Kensington, Albany, El Cerrito, and Alameda. I just had a baby girl mid April last year and took a break to enjoy motherhood! I am now back looking for new families! Please let me know if you think we could work well together and we can talk more about it. I have plenty of experience with infants, toddlers and older kids. I can also help with light housework and meal prepping. Last minute/same day requests: I will always try to accommodate as best as I can for same-day and last-minute requests, but please do keep in mind that I also have to find care for my child unless you are comfortable with me bringing her along. Cancelation policy: Please note that a 24 hour notice is expected for cancelations. If you happen to cancel a job and not allowed for a 24 hour notice, I expect to be paid for 50% of the agreed upon hours. If you cancel a job less than 12 hours before start time, I expect to be paid for all of the agreed upon hours. Emergencies do occur, but please take into account that this is my only source of income. Additionally, I always expect to be paid for all of the hours booked, even if you come home earlier or if the booking hours are changed less than a week before the job booked. This policy helps me structure and commit to my schedule, and allows for a mutual and transparent agreement. Work policy: I do not charge for cleaning after the kids and of course myself, and light housekeeping, but if it is expected housework and not agreed to beforehand I am not responsible for fulfilling it. I also charge 1.5x my rate for big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you. Thali
“Thali was punctual, respectful, and great with the kids. They seem to feel comfortable in her presence even though we usually only have family watching them. Highly recommend!”
Caring for children and supporting families is a path I came to through my own upbringing, which gave me a deep appreciation for the importance of emotional support, secure relationships, and attuned caregiving throughout every stage of development. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from UC Davis, and was recently awarded my Masters of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute. I am currently in a doctoral program, specializing in early childhood development and neurodevelopment disorders. Through my clinical training, I have had the privilege of working alongside children and families, bringing both a strong developmental perspective and genuine warmth to every interaction. My experience caring for children began early and has continued consistently through family, community, and professional caregiving. Over the past 12 years, I have worked with children of various ages and developmental needs, experiences that have shaped an approach grounded in careful observation, thoughtful engagement, and a calm, dependable presence. As a caregiver, I am attentive not only to children's safety and well-being, but also to how they think, feel, and make sense of the world around them. I engage with them intentionally, fostering curiosity, communication, confidence, and emotional awareness through meaningful everyday interactions. My clinical and practicum experiences have further strengthened my ability to meet children where they are developmentally while providing structure, warmth, and consistency. I view caregiving as a meaningful responsibility that requires preparation, sound judgment, and genuine compassion. I would be honored to support a family seeking a caregiver who combines extensive hands-on experience with advanced training in child development and clinical psychology.

"UrbanSitter is my go-to for quality sitters! I can book weeks ahead of time or easily find a same-day sitter when in a bind. I even hired a part-time nanny during a daycare transition. Customer service is helpful and babysitters respond in a timely manner."
