Hi all, My name is Mmadi! (Yes, with two M’s! Lol) I am a 30 year-old alumna of California State University - Sacramento, where I earned a degree in Business Communications and Marketing with a minor in Africana studies. I come from a large Nigerian family and I’m the second of five children. Growing up, my mother, who is a labor and delivery nurse, taught me everything there is to know about infant and child care and development. I worked full-time as a professional nanny from 2020 to 2024. When I began with the family, they had a 3-month-old. During my tenure, I also cared for their second child who was born in 2023, raising both until my departure. I have a wealth of experience in babysitting my younger siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and family friends. In addition, I have taught Sunday school and independently managed the children's day care at my church for almost nine years. Taking care of 5-10 children every Sunday ranging from newborns to 10 years old in age. During my time in college, I completed numerous child development and psychology courses. I also have a basic understanding of the Spanish language, having taken three years of it in high school. I have been an UrbanSitter member since the summer of 2016 and have worked with over 500 families, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Friendly reminder: rates range based on distance, age, job duties etc
I have been working with children for almost fourteen years, and was a Preschool Teacher for over five years. I have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development from SF State University. Prior to the covid-19 shutdown I worked as a teacher at Rockridge Little School in Piedmont for two years, where I worked with all ages groups (2-5 years) I also worked as a teacher at Claremont Day Nurseries Preschool in Kensington. I was a two year old teacher for one year, and then became a floater teacher for all the age groups (ages 2-5). Prior to this I started up an after-care organization with my mother in 2009 until 2012, where we took care of over nine children after-school per day, ages 6-10. On my work days I would spend the day playing with the kids, doing arts and crafts, providing homework help and overall enjoying the company of the children until the parents would come back from work. I love to do drawing/arts and crafts projects with the kids I take care of if possible, and really enjoy the creativity it brings out in each child. I have found my experiences with children to be both educational and heart-warming, and for those reasons have helped me develop as a person and I feel make me qualified to join the urban-sitter community.
“Professional, fun, friendly, my kids loved her!”
Hello! I'm Linda — a trained classical singer, Montessori-informed, and 10-year nanny who genuinely loves the kiddos! I love their hilarious personalities, and believe the care and attention we give them early on shapes everything they become. (Most experience with infants and toddlers) SF native now located in North Oakland, I hold a BA from UC Davis alongside child development coursework — and I'm inspired in my work by Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, who remind me that nurturing a child's full potential through care, structure, and encouragement is everything. My approach is firm but loving: building trust through warmth, calm guidance, and patience — guiding behavior thoughtfully rather than relying heavily on "no." Two of my ten years were spent caring for twins from infancy to toddlerhood, so I'm well practiced at juggling many demands at once! Infant care is where I feel most at home — sleep training, bottle feeding, gas relief, intro to purees & solids, BLW, tummy time, baby milestone developments, fine and large motor skills, administering medicine, and more. I am vaccinated for COVID, TDAP, and MMR, and CPR-certified for children and infants. I thrive in a collaborative nanny-parent partnership built on trust, open communication, and mutual respect — keeping parents connected through regular updates, photos, and texts, and adapting to each family's unique values and rhythms. My primary role is as a nanny, with a strong focus on nurturing each child's development and growth. I am not seeking a combined nanny + housekeeping/mother's helper position — though I'm open to extra non-child related tasks (clearly set & agreed upon) at a higher rate.* I also love incorporating music into childcare and offer beginner voice lessons! In my 20s I worked for a Bay Area nonprofit that I still volunteer with today. Contract agreements required for jobs 4+ wks. 3-hr minimum ($100 base). Same-day cancellations charged in full.
Hi! My name is Nadia. I’m the eldest daughter of six so I grew up caring for children throughout my life. I have experience with infants to toddlers to school aged kids. Additionally, I am this school years new 5th grade teacher at REACH Academy in Oakland. I have experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and am CPR and First Aid certified. I bring over three years of formal experience working with children in both school and home settings, including supporting children with diverse behavioral and developmental needs. Working with UrbanSitter I have worked with multiple families and built strong, ongoing relationships. I’m happy to provide references upon request. In my free time, I enjoy art, music (I play guitar), reading, and spending time in nature. I’m very animal-friendly—I have two cats and grew up with dogs. Always happy to facetime or call before booking; I look forward to connecting with you!
Hello! Ive been working with children my entire working life. I began teaching swimming lessons to infants through pre-teens, babysitting infants-toddlers, and working as a high school mentor before going to college. I got a degree in Spanish literature and language in WA state (University of Puget Sound) and taught middle and high school in Andorra as a Fulbright fellow (borders Spain and France). After returning to the US, I went to Stanford to get my Masters in Education and worked with students for seven years across the Bay Area. I now work as a preschool/infant Montessori style educator/nanny, mentor, tutor, and educational consultant, in addition to pursuing my art in fusion dance and vocal performance. I love children, believe it is a life mission to help them feel understood and empowered, and have been described as quite the "Mary Poppins" advice, lullabies, and giant bag included :-) **Update: While I am currently looking for part-time and/or tutoring help, I am also available for occasional babysitting on the weekends/week nights!

"UrbanSitter is my go-to for quality sitters! I can book weeks ahead of time or easily find a same-day sitter when in a bind. I even hired a part-time nanny during a daycare transition. Customer service is helpful and babysitters respond in a timely manner."
