I am a former elementary school science teacher and a marine scientist. I've been working with kids for 22 years: both as a teacher and as a babysitter for family (7 nieces and nephews), friends (I'm "auntie" to many more), and a professional babysitting company. I love working with kids because I am one at heart and love to discover the world at their level. I love running around playing games, doing crafts, reading books, and I am a great homework helper. When I get some free time, I love to go kayaking, hiking, and snorkeling.

Education: Hi, my name is Mariel. I graduated from San Diego State University in May of 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a double minor in Child and Family Development and Spanish. I am fluent in English and Spanish. About me: I am 34 years old. I was born in San Diego. I recently moved to the South Bay with my family. I’m a proud mom to two young children, ages 2 and 5. Work experience: I have over 10 years of experience working with children in a variety of settings. I spent more than four years as a preschool teacher, where I worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children. I also worked for over three years as a behavior therapist, supporting young children on the spectrum. Most recently, I worked as a nanny for a wonderful family for nearly three years. Throughout the years, I have also babysat for many families between full-time positions. Currently, I run my own daycare, where I provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children to learn and grow.
