Hello! My name is Jeanette. I moved to Chicago in 2021 to pursue my MA in Sound Arts and Industries at Northwestern University. I currently work as a freelance audio engineer and teaching artist in the local film and arts community, and I’m looking for part-time or occasional childcare opportunities between projects. Before moving to Chicago, I worked as an early childhood educator in New Mexico public schools and summer programs. I earned my BA from the University of New Mexico with an interdisciplinary focus in Early Childhood & Multicultural Education, Music Studies/Performance, and Communication. I have years of experience working with children from early childhood through teens as a teacher, nanny, and sitter. I love caregiving because it’s rewarding to support kids as they explore, learn, and grow while creating a safe, creative, and encouraging environment. I enjoy engaging kids through reading stories, singing songs and nursery rhymes, music, crafts, imaginative play, outdoor exploration, and sensory activities. I like following children’s interests and encouraging curiosity while also supporting routines and helping kids tidy up after activities. When screen time is allowed, I prefer guided movement breaks or short educational programs (like Danny Go, Ms. Rachel, or Kids TV 123), but I usually try to keep kids engaged with hands-on activities instead. I’m bilingual (fluent in Spanish), play a variety of string instruments, and am currently working toward my Deep Listening certification. I previously worked with a community organization in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood co-teaching expressive arts classes for children and families, and volunteered with ALAS as a violin instructor for a mariachi youth group. While living in Santa Fe, I also led an outdoor summer arts adventure program organizing nature-based art projects, movement games, and creative activities both outdoors and indoors. More recently, I’ve spent lots of time helping care for my two nieces (now ages 2 and 5), which keeps my toddler and early childhood play skills active. I’m trained in first aid and infant/toddler CPR and am happy to help with light household tasks during naps. I’m also happy to provide references or my resume upon request. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio, I hope to connect with your family soon!
“Jeanette did a wonderful job and had a delightful connection with our children.”
I am a former CNA. Currently I am a certified Pediatric Phlebotomist and EKG technician in a hospital. I speak English and Spanish fluently and have plenty of experience working with babies and children. I have worked independently with clients with Alzheimer's disease as well. Activities I engage with children include reading time, arts and crafts, coloring, playing, going for walks, visiting museums or zoo, etc.
Hi, UrbanSitter families! 👋 I’m a lifelong Chicago-area resident, mom of three, and a trusted, experienced caregiver who truly loves working with kids of all ages. I’m a non-smoker, fully COVID-vaccinated and boosted, and I prioritize safety and reliability in everything I do. Caring for children has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve been a paid babysitter since my teens, am the oldest of six siblings, and spent 10 years as a Girl Scout leader—planning activities, leading overnight camping trips, and even international travel! While a GS leader, I maintained annual infant/child CPR and First Aid certification for a decade. Families describe me as punctual, dependable, calm, and creative. I love doing crafts, imaginative play, and reading. I’m always happy to help with meals and leave your space clean and organized after our time together. I have extensive experience with infants, toddlers, school-age children, and multiple siblings. I was state-registered as a respite caregiver for children with special needs for several years, and currently provide ongoing mentorship and care for a teen on the autism spectrum. Availability: I’m looking to support families during evenings and weekends. I have a standing commitment with another family on Sunday mornings but am available weeknights and most weekend days and evenings. A little more about me: I’m an art enthusiast, knitter, runner, and problem-solver. I’m happy to share access to my (privacy-protected) social media accounts so you can get to know me better, and I always welcome a call or Zoom chat before booking to be sure we’re a great fit. Booking details: • Mon–Thurs: 2.5-hour minimum • Fri–Sun: 4-hour minimum • Cancellations: – Less than 12 hours’ notice: 50% of booking – Less than 4 hours’ notice: 100% of booking I’d love to get to know your family and be a caring, dependable part of your village 💛
Hi there! My name is Emily and I am currently a student at Northeastern Illinois University! I am an undergrad student specializing in social work while working as a part-time sitter/house manager. I love children and have always found my way into many children’s hearts. I have previous baby sitting experience as well as years experience working with the Chicago Park District as recreational leader for their play camp program that gave me the opportunity to work alongside 20 amazing children from the ages of 4-5 in the community. Being a camper myself when I was younger I learned the importance of having the people around children teaching them values and Influencing them in the right ways. I am a very creative person in my free time and always like to have a good time! Arts and crafts are a speciality of mine! Plus knowing about the latest toys for the kiddos!
Hi! My name is Jawariya, but you can call me J. I’m a 28-year-old marketing professional with 11 years of hands-on babysitting experience. I’ve cared for children of all ages, from infants to pre-teens, and have worked with families both regularly and on an as-needed basis for evenings, weekends, and special occasions. My background includes years of consistent babysitting, as well as early experience through high school and college. I’m confident in my ability to multitask, keep children engaged, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment. Fun fact- I was in nursing school for 3 years and made a career change to marketing during COVID! I’m reliable, flexible with scheduling, and happy to provide references upon request. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
