I have worked with children and youth since high school. I had the desire to work with children and youth as an adult however I haven’t had the chance to really balance that with school and work. Now that I am older and have more availability I want to pursue my passion with working with children and youth. I have a degree in family and humanities and I am a veteran. Over the years I’ve always wanted to pursue having a daycare center or a family based childcare. I still have that passion so I am looking to build a trusted and useful community for those who need my services. I am looking to provide support to families who do not work the traditional 9 to 5 working hours. My services is available for those who work non-traditional hours. The evening/overnight shift and those who work various changing work schedules. I received my experience with working with children and youth through internships, community engagements, and helping family and friend when they need a babysitter. Hello! My name is Abigail, and I am a recently moved to Baltimore to start my Masters of Music program at Johns Hopkins University. I am so excited to be in Baltimore to continue my studies, and also get to know a new city! For the past year, I worked as a music teacher at a public elementary school (PreK-5th grade) in North Philadelphia. I love working with and teaching children, and one of the reasons that I want to nanny while in school is so that I can continue building my skills in working with children. I was often a babysitter growing up, but it's been a few years so nannying would be a fresh experience for me! Additionally, I have four years of housekeeping experience from previous employment at a hotel, and also really enjoy baking/cooking, so I would be happy to help with some of these tasks if needed. Before living in Philadelphia, I was in Allentown, PA for my undergraduate degree at Muhlenberg College, where I studied Music, Theatre, and Psychology with an emphasis in child development. Outside of my work and studies, I really enjoy exploring new places, attending performances, and cooking/trying out new recipes. What I bring to the table: •Nearly 20 years of experience with childcare and household management for preschool-to-high school aged kids and families. I was with my previous family for 14 years and have been with my current family since 2019. •Intuitive and fast thinking- I am able to quickly troubleshoot situations and navigate decisions without handholding. Fixing problems before they become problems. •Almost spotless driving record (one camera ticket in the last few years), plus a squeaky clean criminal record. I am very comfortable driving, navigating rush hour, parallel parking, etc. I have my own transportation. •Funny, down to earth, and strong in my convictions- would like to work with a family on the same wavelength. •I love to cook and am familiar with many different cuisines.
