I started working as a mother's helper at the age of 10, and have been babysitting ever since! In high school I worked as a nanny 20 hours a week for a wonderful family with two infants, and also volunteered at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital to ensure children separated from their parents for long periods of time were receiving the critical attention needed to develop their gross and fine motor skills. During college I worked as an occasional sitter for many different families in the D.C. area. I have been living in New York for about 5 years now and work full-time as a Copywriter at a creative agency, so I just take a few babysitting jobs each month on nights and weekend :) For five summers when I was 18-23, I worked as a counselor at Camp Onaway, a sleep-away camp for girls ages 8-15 in New Hampshire. After graduating from the University of Maryland in December 2016, I worked at a Swiss boarding school as a dorm counselor, Spanish Instructor, and as a ski instructor. In short, I LOVE hanging out with kids both younger and older! I have ample experience with newborns, infants, and toddlers, and I love kids of all ages and needs. I have babysat for children with special needs and behavioral differences, and I am always happy to accommodate any communication/behavioral/educational methods that your family prefers (though I do not have any specific certifications or training for different needs). I speak Russian and Spanish and I am happy to help children learning either language by simply speaking to them or working on certain vocabulary. I am happy to tidy the house or help out in the kitchen when babysitting, help with homework, run errands, etc. Thanks for your consideration!
Hello my name is Sherley I’m 24 years old, a recent graduate from St. Francis College. I'd describe my personality as attentive, compassionate and caring. I started working with kids when I was 14, I started at a day care center and gradually started as a paraprofessional. Currently I work as a Care manager. Working with children allows you to see growth and progress in amazing, measurable ways. While there may be setbacks, you will see the joy on each child's face as they learn new things from you. Working with kids is fun, no single day is the same. Children make you a more knowledgeable person: Children are, by nature, very curious. Working with children reminds you of how amazing and exciting the world can be. My skills include being Patient, understanding and compassionate. I am comfortable with pets. No allergies!
“Sherley arrived on time and was very warm and friendly. She engaged my son in one of his preferred activities and was responsive when we texted to check in. We felt comfortable with her and would be glad to hire her again.”
I grew up in New York City with a younger brother in an arts driven, multicultural family. My passions are language, grounding in nature, traveling, epicurean adventures, cooking, wellness and the arts. Along with my work in childcare, I am a published fine artist working in photography. I believe kids can teach us a lot with their curiosity, wisdom and free spirits. I always learn something new about myself in the company of children and I’ve worked with all ages from newborns to teenagers. I find them totally inspiring for my own creative work. I am also a big believer in families and have been offering them support through nurture, protection and care for nearly two decades. I’m currently expanding my knowledge and ability to support families through Doula studies. I seek connection with compassionate and kind families who value the contribution of caregivers~ those who know the work of care is a beautiful act of service that upholds the wellbeing of our collective. *Please be honest in your post or when we speak whether you have a sick child. A sick child rate is available, discussed and agreed upon at hire.
“Nora helped me out when I needed it most. She was very reliable and I felt like my kids were in good hands. I plan to ask her for her services in the future. My kids really enjoyed spending time with Nora.”
I am a current MBA student and graduate of Georgetown University who loves children and has vast experience in childcare returning to babysitting while out of the job market. I have tutored kids from first to seventh grade, been a preschool assistant teacher and babysat for many families over the years. My duties have included school pick up and drop-off, meal preparation and planning fun activities for the kids. I am a big fan of getting outside and doing something active or creative. With a cognitive science degree focusing on child development, I am confident I will be a terrific complement to your family. I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi- My name is Taisha and I am offering child care, senior care, and household services. I love being a babysitter, as the oldest of my family I have been watching my siblings and cousins as well as newborns, infants and toddlers, since I was 14 years old. My responsibilities have included drop off and pick up/from school, crafts, tutoring, and teaching. I also work as a household assistant and can cook, clean, and run errands. I have been a caretaker for my own grandparents I can cook, accompany them to appointments, or do other tasks. I am allergic to dogs.
“Taisha is reliable, punctual, and professional. I was worried that my dad would not be comfortable having someone other than myself help him during the day, but he had the best things to say.”

"UrbanSitter is my go-to for quality sitters! I can book weeks ahead of time or easily find a same-day sitter when in a bind. I even hired a part-time nanny during a daycare transition. Customer service is helpful and babysitters respond in a timely manner."
