At home with my stepdaughters, I had a one-hour-a-day screen policy, so we did a lot of activities together, such as cooking, puzzles, reading, singing, and dancing, as well as anything fun that allowed them to be kids. Much of my parenting style and overall approach to being with kids and young adults is based on the Montessori method, which I learned as a Montessori kid from kindergarten through 6th grade. I believe that practical life skills, fun, and emotional intelligence, along with guiding them, are the best way for kids to feel safe and free to explore the world. At the end of the day, kids are future adults, and letting them learn to take responsibility for how they show up in the world builds healthy confidence and self-esteem, helping them become well-adjusted adults who are happy, healthy, and productive. When spending time with infants and toddlers, it's always important to work on milestones in a fun and healthy way while engaging and connecting with the child :-)
