I chose a different career path after covid but I really love kids in my core. Over the past 27yrs, I have also worked at recreation centers, 24-hr daycares, non-profits for daycare accreditation, Head Start & ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) I understand different parenting styles, living arrangements, so there's no judgement, just quality care, and the need to go with the flow of life. I have been babysitting since I was 12-13 years old watching newborns, infants, toddlers, and kids. I have been responsible for driving to/from school, crafts, driving to/from after-school activities, and completing chores. I love hanging out and doing activities that the children enjoy, while teaching life and communication skills that are age appropriate! (ex. maintaining a clean room, completing homework, communicating needs, etc.) For house sitting, I have been responsible for watering plants, collecting mail, and regularly checking in on the house when needed. I have been professionally caring for children since October 17, 2017. I started occasional sitting until I started watching a 3 year old and 6 month old on a part-time evening basis and another part-time position on Saturdays for a 7 year old. I began a full-time teaching job for Dallas public schools as a first grade teacher in August 2018 but decided to return to nannying/babysitting. I have many 5 star reviews on the other two childcare websites and can give additional references for families where I cared for infants as young as 4 weeks old. I am a retired psychologist and worked with children throughout my 30 years of counseling. While this did not entail "caring" for children, it did require being able to talk to and understand them at a very deep level. Most of my experience with children has been to raise my own two who are now a paramedic and a public school teacher and I have been having my 3 grand children come visit with me on weekends from infancy to now. The eldest is 8 years old. I was a girl scout leader for 10 years when the girls were 5, until they were 15. I took them camping on weekends and on two trips, one out of state and one out of the country. I am definitely a fun babysitter and even bring my own board games, but I have no problem with limits and boundaries. I am very responsible. I am healthy and energetic and can get down on the floor to play with kids. I love to cook, especially healthy food. I am good with dogs & cats. My name is Leila! I am a Master's student at UNT pursuing my MBA in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. I graduated from UT Arlington with a BA in Communication Studies, specializing in the organizational communication track. I currently work in Human Resources, but I am open to occasional babysitting roles and tutoring opportunities.
