Hi, Moms and Dads! 👋 I have over 15 years of childcare experience as an au pair, nanny, tutor, and occasional babysitter. Working with children has always been something I genuinely love and enjoy! I'm an energetic, creative, fun-loving, patient, and responsible person. I naturally connect with children and love creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment where they can learn, explore, and have fun. My Childcare Experience I spent two wonderful years as an au pair, caring for children of different ages, from infants to school-aged kids. During my first year, I cared for two adorable children, Luca (3 years old) and Milly (7 months old). My daily responsibilities included preparing meals, feeding, diaper changes, potty training, dressing, school drop-offs and pick-ups, and maintaining their daily routines. Beyond their everyday needs, I loved planning fun and educational activities! We spent our days reading books, singing songs, doing arts and crafts, playing board games, visiting playgrounds, attending Gymboree classes, and exploring museums and the zoo. I also prepared homemade baby food and helped support the children's developmental milestones. During my second year, I cared for Madeleine, a wonderful 6-year-old girl. We had so much fun exploring the Bay Area together! Some of our favorite destinations included the Oakland Zoo, Lawrence Hall of Science, Chabot Space & Science Center, Pier 39, Dolores Park, and Dracena Park. On rainy days, we enjoyed indoor activities such as ceramic painting, ice skating, and indoor play centers. Before becoming an au pair, I also volunteered at a kindergarten for nearly a year. I helped children with their daily routines, meals, and personal hygiene while organizing educational games, creative projects, and activities to teach colors, numbers, and basic skills. A Little More About Me I'm a Chemical Engineer, and I have a master's degree in Engineering Management from CSU, East Bay. I currently work full-time as a Project Manager for a construction contractor. Still, childcare continues to be a meaningful part of my life. I truly enjoy spending time with children, encouraging their curiosity, supporting their development, and making wonderful memories together.I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, happy, respected, and encouraged to be themselves. My goal is always to provide parents with peace of mind, knowing their little ones are in caring and responsible hands.

Hi, I'm Shak! As the eldest in a large family, childcare has been a part of my life from a young age. I began as a mother's helper in 2009 and now have 16 years of active childcare experience. I've worked primarily with newborns and toddlers, but I love working with children of all ages. I bring an empathy-first approach to every family I work with. For infants, I specialize in sleep training and mother's helper support, and I'm happy to work alongside new parents through that journey every step of the way. I also focus on early language development through textures, sounds, rhythm, and music. With toddlers, I lean into interest led play, imagination building, curiosity about the world, early reading and counting. For school-age kids and teens, I emphasize active listening, healthy boundaries, and creating safe spaces for authentic expression. I also have meaningful experience with neurodiverse children who benefit from a different level of engagement and care. And since I studied classical text and diction, I love putting that to use — making up plays, collaborative storytelling, theatre games, you name it! But I'm just as happy getting active: bike rides, fort building, kite flying at the beach, little hikes, and whatever else sparks joy. I have a very low cancellation rate. If I accept a booking I am committed and will be there. I also have a reliable vehicle. I'd love to be a part of your family's village. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

“Shak has such a calming and yet fun demeanor. I am amazed that she got my daughter to go in her bed on her own. Let me tell you, we have not been able to do it! She got creative, she made up stories, they warmed up quickly and gave hugs. Just lovely person and super caretaker!”

Hello parents! My name is Claudia and I'm from Colombia (A plus if you want a bilingual sitter). I have been working with kids for more than ten years, and enjoy caring for children. I have experience with newborns, toddlers and schoolers. I also have a certificate in first aid and CPR from the American Red Cross. I love pets, specially dogs, and I enjoy having outdoor activities, playing sports (soccer, volleyball, tennis, swimming and gymnastics) but I'm also good doing crafts, art work, table games like chess or planning indoor activities if we have to stay at home. I'm responsible, trustworthy and hardworking. Non Smoker. I have a background and work in science, but I enjoy spending time with kids while babysitting. I am currently living in San Francisco, work as a scientist at Stanford, but enjoy the ocasional babysitting jobs. I also have a California driver license, and a clean record. I can provide strong references too. Looking forward to meet you soon.

I have been working with children for almost fourteen years, and was a Preschool Teacher for over five years. I have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development from SF State University. Prior to the covid-19 shutdown I worked as a teacher at Rockridge Little School in Piedmont for two years, where I worked with all ages groups (2-5 years) I also worked as a teacher at Claremont Day Nurseries Preschool in Kensington. I was a two year old teacher for one year, and then became a floater teacher for all the age groups (ages 2-5). Prior to this I started up an after-care organization with my mother in 2009 until 2012, where we took care of over nine children after-school per day, ages 6-10. On my work days I would spend the day playing with the kids, doing arts and crafts, providing homework help and overall enjoying the company of the children until the parents would come back from work. I love to do drawing/arts and crafts projects with the kids I take care of if possible, and really enjoy the creativity it brings out in each child. I have found my experiences with children to be both educational and heart-warming, and for those reasons have helped me develop as a person and I feel make me qualified to join the urban-sitter community.

Hi - My name is Thalissa but you can call me Thali! I’ve been working with kids since I was 16, but my first experience came with my little sister’s birth almost 20 years ago. I started by taking care of her and then began babysitting for my neighbors back in Brazil. I’ve been working with different families in America since I got here 9 years ago. I am in the Berkeley area but also have worked in Oakland, Piedmont, Orinda, Moraga, Kensington, Albany, El Cerrito, and Alameda. I just had a baby girl mid April last year and took a break to enjoy motherhood! I am now back looking for new families! Please let me know if you think we could work well together and we can talk more about it. I have plenty of experience with infants, toddlers and older kids. I can also help with light housework and meal prepping. Last minute/same day requests: I will always try to accommodate as best as I can for same-day and last-minute requests, but please do keep in mind that I also have to find care for my child unless you are comfortable with me bringing her along. Cancelation policy: Please note that a 24 hour notice is expected for cancelations. If you happen to cancel a job and not allowed for a 24 hour notice, I expect to be paid for 50% of the agreed upon hours. If you cancel a job less than 12 hours before start time, I expect to be paid for all of the agreed upon hours. Emergencies do occur, but please take into account that this is my only source of income. Additionally, I always expect to be paid for all of the hours booked, even if you come home earlier or if the booking hours are changed less than a week before the job booked. This policy helps me structure and commit to my schedule, and allows for a mutual and transparent agreement. Work policy: I do not charge for cleaning after the kids and of course myself, and light housekeeping, but if it is expected housework and not agreed to beforehand I am not responsible for fulfilling it. I also charge 1.5x my rate for big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you. Thali

“Thali was punctual, respectful, and great with the kids. They seem to feel comfortable in her presence even though we usually only have family watching them. Highly recommend!”
