Hello, my name is Julia and I currently work as a Substitute Teacher and Pet/Housesitter in the DMV. I am looking to expand my client base and serve more families in the area. I am offering pet care, child care, senior care, and household services. I have a masters degree in Childhood Education and have worked as a Substitute Teacher for more than 8 years, in three different states (NYC, WA, MD). I have another masters degree in Recreation Education & Therapy and have worked in therapeutic and commercial recreation for many years, including at summer camps and even for Disney Cruise Line. I have done babysitting ever since I was a teenager, and have experimented with my own business in children’s birthday parties and creativity workshops. I am also so happy to have expanded into pet care in recent years, because I absolutely love dogs and cats. I’ve been a member of Trusted Housesitters for years, and have worked for a pet/home concierge company in the DMV for a year. Housekeeping/homemaking is also my passion. I like to keep a home tidy, and I enjoy doing errands, shopping for groceries, and cooking Italian food (especially pizza). I am also interested in providing companion care with seniors, as I love hearing elders’ stories and wisdom, and providing them with good company. I used to host recreational programs with seniors at assisted living centers, including improv comedy, creative writing and discussion groups. Overall, I love serving families directly, whether it be with their pets, children or seniors, and the home itself. I’m kind of like a substitute family member for hire!
