Over the last couple decades, I have worked with ages 0-12, and some adults. Most of my experience lies in early childhood, as I typically begin nannying during infancy and prepare them for pre-school. I'm CPR/AED/1st Aid certified, have experience with food allergies, seizures, behavioral disorders, chronic disorders, and speech delays. I am comfortable administering medication and driving with children in my care. I practice gentle parenting, sleep training, a variety of language techniques, and strive to work together with family/parents/children as a true part of the team. My entire career has been devoted to providing care to people in different areas of their lives whether it be through healthcare, companionship or offering resources for people to feel cared and loved. I love being a caregiver and have been watching newborns, infants, toddlers, and kids (including twins!) since I was 19 years old. My responsibilities have included driving to/from school, crafts, tutoring etc. I have 4 years of experience working at schools as a childcare supervisor and after care attendant, so trust me when I say your kids are safe with me :) I also work as a Certified Nursing Assistant so I have the skillset of helping clients with ADLs which include household tasks like cooking, cleaning, and running errands. I am a retired teacher, having worked with middle and high schoolers in the area of Language Arts for 38 years. Currently, I am a nanny, a substitute teacher, and a tutor for elementary students. My life has been spent helping children learn and grow, to my great enjoyment. I have an M.Ed. in Reading Education and am a National Board Certified teacher since 2000. One of my proudest career moments was being chosen as WRAL's Teacher of the Week on Dec. 2, 2015. I am mother to four adult sons (two adopted from Russia) and a grandmother to three grandchildren, ages 1, 4, and 8. I have served as a foster parent through Children's Home Society; every child deserves a safe, loving home. I have completed Child and Baby First Aid/ CPR/AED training through the American Red Cross. I am fully vaccinated! My strong points are my patience, creativity, and energy. Yes, I consider myself a young 70 year old! I am a non- smoker, love pets, and have reliable transportation. I enjoy baseball, traveling, reading, hiking, and antiquing. My recent trips have included France, Ireland, Scotland, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, and South Dakota.
