Hi! I'm newer to this field but growing up I've always loved helping others. Whether it was helping take care of my 4 little siblings, or our family dog I've always been in an environment where I was helping to care for someone. I also would love volunteering, for 4 years I was a reading tutor for a company called Read&Feed and I also dabbled in volunteering at different events as well as summer camps. I recently went to school for Esthetics and work part-time as a medical esthetician at a Wellness Clinic in Cary. Currently, I'm just looking for part-time work for the days I'm not at the Clinic. I'm open to working with any age group including senior care as well as pets like cats and dogs :)

I have provided child care before, during and after graduating from Meredith College, I stayed home and homeschooled my own 2 children who are now 16.5, daughter, and 22, son. My daughter would love to come with me and play and snuggle too. When my children were young, I cared for several single Moms' kids and a couple of other families. As they grew older, I found a data entry job and real estate from home. I miss having time with little ones and would love to provide occasional care for others. I am a former lifeguard and have had my CPR recertified a few times over the years that included infants as well. My daughter and I also provided senior care to my 2 parents for the last 3+ years. I can provide transportation to shops, take out to lunch, provide activities, and accompany them to Dr appointments. I am currently employed at the YMCA where I have four years of experience working with children aged five to fifteen. I am a retired teacher, having worked with middle and high schoolers in the area of Language Arts for 38 years. Currently, I am a nanny, a substitute teacher, and a tutor for elementary students. My life has been spent helping children learn and grow, to my great enjoyment. I have an M.Ed. in Reading Education and am a National Board Certified teacher since 2000. One of my proudest career moments was being chosen as WRAL's Teacher of the Week on Dec. 2, 2015. I am mother to four adult sons (two adopted from Russia) and a grandmother to three grandchildren, ages 1, 4, and 8. I have served as a foster parent through Children's Home Society; every child deserves a safe, loving home. I have completed Child and Baby First Aid/ CPR/AED training through the American Red Cross. I am fully vaccinated! My strong points are my patience, creativity, and energy. Yes, I consider myself a young 70 year old! I am a non- smoker, love pets, and have reliable transportation. I enjoy baseball, traveling, reading, hiking, and antiquing. My recent trips have included France, Ireland, Scotland, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, and South Dakota. I am forty years old and currently live in Smithfield, NC. I have a BA in Public Policy Analysis from UNC Chapel Hill and have completed twenty-four hours toward a Masters degree in Public Administration at UNC Wilmington. I am just returning to the workforce as a Volunteer Coordinator for the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield following handling my mother’s estate and being her caretaker following a fourteen year career as the Executive Director at Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation. I have been babysitting for more than twenty-five years, since the age of twelve. I was a YMCA Afterschool Counselor, Summer Camp Counselor, and Swimming Lessons Instructor during high school and in the summers when I was in college. In Chapel Hill, I often babysat for members of the Chapel Hill Mother's Club. I joined Stellar Sitters in Wilmington after I moved there in July of 2007, and have worked with them in the Raleigh area since the fall of 2008. I also volunteered in Grow Zone (the nursery) at Port City Community Church in Wilmington. I have significant experience with school-aged children through the YMCA, and significant experience with babies, toddlers, and school-aged children through babysitting. I regularly care for my niece, who was born April 4, 2011 and has brought so much joy into my life! I really love interacting with children -- there's not a lot in this world that is more special or rewarding than seeing the excitement on a child's face when they accomplish something for the first time or learn something new! Some of my favorite things to do while babysitting are playing pretend and getting to see wild imaginations at work, arts and crafts and playing outside. I can have fun getting dirty and making a mess, but I will make sure that everything is cleaned up as it was when we started. It is my hope to encourage a child to be honest, responsible, respectful and caring, and to do this in a way that your child is entertained, learning and safe. I am glad to help with homework, do crafts, prepare food, and provide transportation. In my free time, I am often at a softball field or in the stands at volleyball games cheering on my niece. I am also an active member of the Junior Women’s League of Smithfield and volunteer for many community organizations.
