Hi! I'm Olivia. Thanks for visiting my profile. A little about me: I have 15 years of experience as both a full-time and part-time babysitter. I started babysitting in 2011, when I was a freshman at NYU. I'm now 33 and a freelance writer and editor. From 2011 to 2017 (before I left NYC temporarily for grad school), I babysat for 10-40 hours each week. My experience ranges from newborns to 14-year-olds, with every age in between. I especially enjoy sharing my love of books & reading. I love chatting with kids, answering their (hilarious/profound/thought-provoking) questions, and playing their favorite off-screen game. I was born in Manhattan, and I grew up in North and South Florida. Outside babysitting, I worked as a substitute teacher while attending grad school. From 2[removed], I was a full-time teacher at a private school in Florida, where I taught fourth grade reading, writing and science. I am skilled in social-emotional learning (SEL) and working with children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), Levels I, I, and III; OCD; and ADHD. I am also skilled in helping kids cope with anxiety, anxious thinking, or anxiety-related behavior patterns. My hobbies include reading, spending time with my friends, and kayaking. I also have an M.F.A. in fiction writing, and I love talking to both kids and adults about books and writing! Some other helpful info: I am comfortable with pets and light housework/pet care. I am not comfortable babysitting children who are not feeling well/sick/contagious. Please let me know ahead of time if this becomes the case!

I have worked with infants ages 6-weeks to 8 months during the summers and winters that I had off from school. I have also been an intern and student teacher at an elementary school. I have multiple pets of my own including both dogs and cats. I have been taking care of cleaning my house and cooking food for many years and am a huge fan of clean, healthy, and nutritious eating. I am an extremely creative person with a passion for arts while I also love going on walks and trips to the beach. As I have experience with infants I have a knack for exposing children to different environments, tactile exposure, foods, and textures. Due to my background in education I also am able to incorporate learning into almost anything. I have been also always been able to create strong rapport and bonds with children from infancy to elementary grades.

I have tons of experience working with children, especially those in the five and under range. I have previously worked as a camp counselor for preschool aged children, in which I was the lead counselor responsible for fifteen four year old children. I also used to be a swim coach, teaching assistant, and still babysit and teach swim lessons today. All of these jobs have given me a multitude of different experiences with kids and have taught me how to best work with them depending on the situation.
