However, I do have experience with newborns. My responsibilities with the children were often taking them home from school, tutoring, and basic monitoring. As in, helping with homework, feeding them dinner, and playing games. I have had many pets over the years, mainly cats. I am, unfortunately, allergic to dogs. But, I love cats and would be so happy to take care of yours. Since I have my own I understand them well. I am aware feeding times are strict and must be adhered to. Hello! My name is Mica! I LOVE working with kids and families. I have a TON of experience and consider myself a natural caretaker with a very loving, engaged and nurturing approach. In my over 20 years of experience working as a childcare provider, I have worked for over 60 families and watched literally hundreds of children. I've worked with some families for over 10 years, watching as their family grew from one 2 year old to having four kids! From newborn to middle school, but with the majority of my experience being with newborns and infants to young elementary. My mother was a nursery school teacher and my siblings and I worked summers at their nursery school camp program, which is where I had a lot of parents asking me to babysit from there. I worked occasionally as a substitute assistant teacher at that same nursery school as well. I have a B.A. in Psychology and took classes on developmental psychology, studying attachment theory and so on. A little more about my background: I am the oldest child in my family and even amongst extended family and family friends children, so since I was a child myself I've been put in charge of watching the younger kids! I sing and play a little guitar and love when the kids get excited about that as well! I drive and have my own car, I've taken children to and from every activity including doctors appointments. I've done overnights, full weekends and have traveled internationally with families. I can cook/prepare meals, help with homework where needed and do some light housekeeping as well if desired.
