Hello!! My name is Mikaela and my husband and I recently moved to the Columbia area from Charleston. I graduated from the Charleston School of Law in May and sat for the South Carolina Bar Exam this summer; I am now awaiting results! Previously, I worked as both a Montessori preschool teacher and a nanny, and when we moved to Columbia I decided I wanted to work with children again! Although I am currently employed with a law firm, I do have early morning, evening, and weekend availability. I absolutely adore working with children of all ages, especially special needs kiddos, and can easily tailor the care I provide to fit appropriate age levels. When I have kids in my care, we tend to create very imaginative (and elaborate!) games, access our inner Picasso, or go for "treasure hunts" around the neighborhood. :) I love to emphasize collaboration and teamwork between children, so the more the merrier! Hi, my name is Dominique. I am a Black woman, I’m 23 years old and currently in college with plans to become an elementary school teacher after graduation. I love to cook in my free time and go on walks. I have worked with children in the elementary school setting for the past 3 years, I was the lead programmer for the child care company I worked for. Working with children is my passion, I have worked with children with Autism, severe ADHD and other developmental problems throughout my experience. I am CPR certified. I also was in a position to co-aide with teachers, dealing with many different skill sets of kids from many different backgrounds, which I think was one of the best experiences I’ve had. One thing I pride myself on is being able to build genuine bonds with children and being their safe space so that they can be themselves, learn and grow in their own ways. I would say that I’m very patient and open minded, which I think is very important when dealing with children. Being selfless, caring and empathetic are important traits that I embody to the fullest. I have some experience babysitting for young children. I was even a pet sitter for a period of time.
