I have been professionally caring for children since October 17, 2017. I started occasional sitting until I started watching a 3 year old and 6 month old on a part-time evening basis and another part-time position on Saturdays for a 7 year old. I began a full-time teaching job for Dallas public schools as a first grade teacher in August 2018 but decided to return to nannying/babysitting. I am a retired psychologist and worked with children throughout my 30 years of counseling. While this did not entail "caring" for children, it did require being able to talk to and understand them at a very deep level. The eldest is 8 years old. I was a girl scout leader for 10 years when the girls were 5, until they were 15. I took them camping on weekends and on two trips, one out of state and one out of the country.
