Find an emergency babysitter in Mercer Island, WA

Hi, parents! I recently moved to the Seattle area (Issaquah) from San Diego and am looking to connect with families who need a reliable, caring babysitter for date nights, evenings, or weekends. This is actually my first time using UrbanSitter! Back in San Diego, I found all of my babysitting jobs through word of mouth. Families I worked with would recommend me to their friends, and I was babysitting for entire friend groups and neighboring families. I'm excited to use this platform to build those same long-term relationships with families here in Washington. I work full-time during the day, so I'm available after 5:00 PM on weekdays and have much more flexibility on weekends. I'm based in Issaquah and am happy to travel up to about 15 miles for the right family. I started my childcare journey by helping to raise my little sister who is ten years younger than me and I've continued to grow as a childcare professional through adulthood. I've worked as a camp counselor at the Woodland Park Zoo where I was responsible for many children at once, I've volunteered as a creative writing teacher at an elementary school, and one of my greatest accomplishments is becoming a Certified Behavior Technician and working six months implementing and running treatment plans and therapeutic intervention designed by ABA therapists for children with autism of various ages (ages three to sixteen). I cook and clean, I'm CPR/First Aid certified, I love pets, and I have a safe car and a clean driving record. I am a molecular biology student at UW and I currently work part time as a Phlebotomist with the hopes of attending medical school in the future. I have always enjoyed working with children. After finishing my degree in Psychology in 2021, I had the opportunity to travel to Brazil to work with the United Nations on one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education) for 2 months, where I taught Spanish and organized educational activities for children. My experience in childcare has been truly vocational and inspiring for me. I cared for a boy for six months, from 1. 5 years old until he turned 2. Then, I took care of a second child from 9 months until he was 2. 5 years old. Currently, I am taking care of a little girl since she was 4 months and she is now 2 years old! I enjoy helping children with their emotional growth and daily routines, while fostering a safe environment where they can explore and play.

I am a (current) mental health therapist and experienced nanny looking for time-limited gigs (like vacations) or evening & weekend opportunities, including nannying/babysitting, house sitting, household management, travel nannying, pet sitting or other related tasks. I was a long-term nanny for families in the Seattle area from 2[removed] and 2018-2022. I also have experience with household management and organization/systems implementation to help households run smoothly, as well as ample experience with pet sitting. I have a 10 year old doodle myself who is the sweetest pup you’ll ever meet! I have also nannied for 3 kids for a week while their parents went on vacation, and we had a blast! I am a mental health therapist by day, with afternoons/evenings and weekends available. To be transparent, my long-distance partner and I are looking to relocate in the next year, and we want to save some extra funds to ease the move & extend time off together. I could add more therapy clients, however, I quite enjoy nannying (and other related jobs) and it would be a lovely change of pace. If you’re looking for a long-term person, I won’t be the best fit. But if you need someone to watch your pets on vacation, household organizing, weekend babysitting or vacation coverage, I am great at what I do and will provide a fun, safe, and interactive experience for anyone in my care.
