Hello - My name is Alexis. I have seven years of experience as a babysitter and nanny and have cared for children of all ages — from infants to preteens. I love to do arts and crafts, drawing, painting, and coloring with the kids. I also love board games, lego, hide and seek, and reading stories. I was a volunteer at a Waldorf summer camp for four years, where I worked with children in early childhood. Then I was a nanny for a wonderful family with two children who were seven and ten at the time. I worked at a Waldorf school as the Aftercare teacher and program director for almost two years. I was also a sub for the teachers and their assistants. I supervised children of all temperaments and ages as aftercare was offered to kindergarten through fifth grade. On a typical day I usually watched about 15+ children, while cleaning the yard, helping the older children with homework, coordinate with the parents and teachers, and getting the children signed out for the day. I have two associates degrees from Pierce College. I have a degree in Elementary Teacher Education and a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. I currently attend CSUN, where I am getting my teaching credential and bachelors in Liberal Studies. I genuinely love working with kids and plan on becoming an elementary teacher. Specifically, I would like to teach kindergarten or first grade. I am patient, calm, and caring. I am CPR, First Aid, and AED certified. I have been working with children in various capacities for over 10 years. For 2 years, I worked as an actor on a traveling theatre group that performs shows on bullying prevention and other social issues at schools throughout the greater Seattle area, and then spent 2 years as the Education and Outreach Program Coordinator for that same theatre company. I now work as an Education Programs Specialist at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, where I develop museum programming for students and teachers. In terms of childcare, I have worked with dozens of families, ages ranging from 11 weeks to 13 years old, and I am comfortable and experienced working with all ages and up to three children at a time (or more if necessary). I have learned so much from little ones over the past years and being able to play a role in their growth and development is a great joy.
