I'm a current college senior studying Psychology with a focus on becoming an advocate for children. I have 3 years of experience as a babysitter and as a preschool teacher. I previously worked as a preschool teacher for children ages 2-4 1/2. I also created daily itineraries for our aftercare and summer program for kids ages 6 to 13 years old. I am First Aid + CPR certified. I frequently volunteer with my local elementary/middle school for a program that promotes reading amount young kids and fostering a love of books. I frequently babysit in New York and am very familiar with the city. I have babysat in the city before including taking kids to museums/parks. I am a compassionate, caring and reliable person who can cook, clean, and run errands. My love for caregiving began when I would babysit my neighbor’s children at 17 years old while their single mom would work late shifts. The look of joy that she would give me when she returned to a clean home and children that were cared for was extremely rewarding and gave me a sense of pride. During my summer breaks in college, I would help take care of my elderly neighbor when her primary caregiver was away. I would cook, clean, do her laundry and help administer her medication. The admiration I had for her was so strong that when she was moved to a nursing home, I became a volunteer there. I have tons of experience working with children, especially those in the five and under range. I have previously worked as a camp counselor for preschool aged children, in which I was the lead counselor responsible for fifteen four year old children. I also used to be a swim coach, teaching assistant, and still babysit and teach swim lessons today. All of these jobs have given me a multitude of different experiences with kids and have taught me how to best work with them depending on the situation.
