Hi there! My name is Gigi. I'm originally from Seattle and currently live in Bushwick/Ridgewood. I am 37 and am a performance maker and CLOWN! I attended the University of San Francisco, where I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Media Studies. I have worked with kiddos as a babysitter, tutor, and dance teacher since 2008 and from 2[removed], I worked as a long term nanny and family assistant. I then stepped away to focus on my artistic pursuits! I was a dancer for a long while and have more recently been pursuing performance art and physical theatre by way of theatre clowning (took a show to Edinburgh Fringe this past August, yay!). But I have missed working with little ones! Play, discovery, and having a healthy relationship with The Flop (failure) is important to my work as a performance artist as well as when working with kiddos. I'm learning no other work is as enriching or fulfilling than nurturing and supporting a child's security, creativity, curiosity, and individuality! So much so that I am in process of finding a Master’s program in Early Childhood Education with hopes to teach within the intersection of the performing arts and childhood development. I am committed to supporting and creating a reliable safe haven and secure base for kiddos so they may thrive, play, and learn with confidence. I myself have learned a lot and been inspired by my own inner-child healing and children’s advocacy self-study. In my own personal life, a lot of my time and energy is spent using the arts as a healing modality, as well as working through generational trauma and dysfunctional family patterns and behaviors. I find that this work has taught me to become a more empathetic, nurturing, and patient caregiver and has greatly impacted how I relate to children in particular. I am incredibly careful and intentional with my time spent around kids and hope to provide only the warmest, most supportive, and gently engaging environment. Thank you so much for your consideration and time and I look forward to supporting your family any way I can :o)
I'm an experienced child caretaker who has mainly worked with younger school aged kids as well as high schoolers. I've worked in after school programs as well as at an overnight summer camp as a counselor. My strengths are in patience, conflict management and adaptability. I also have experience caring for cats and dogs of various ages and sizes.
Hi! My name is Katrina! 😊 I’ve been the go-to babysitter for my family and friends for many years, and I’ve been caring for children ranging from about 5 months to 9 years old since I was a teenager. I’ve always loved being around kids, and honestly, working with them has always just come naturally to me. I’m patient, caring, dependable, and I really enjoy making kids feel comfortable, happy, and understood. I currently work as a Paraprofessional with the NYC Board of Education in Williamsburg, where I work closely with children in special education. I’ve worked one-on-one with children with ADHD, autism, developmental delays, speech disorders, and different sensory and behavioral needs. I’ve also worked with children from Pre-K through 2nd grade, so I’m very comfortable with different ages, personalities, routines, and learning styles. When I babysit, I don’t want kids to feel like they’re just being “watched.” I love keeping them busy with fun, age-appropriate activities while still giving them structure and following their normal routines. Depending on your child’s age and interests, we might: • 🎶 Sing songs and play movement games • 📅 Practice days of the week, months, letters, numbers, etc. • 🎨 Color, do crafts, and other hands-on activities • 🔢 Play counting and early-learning games • 💃 Dance, listen to music, and have a little fun • 📚 Read stories and have story time • 🧁 Bake or do simple kitchen activities (I’m actually a baking & pastry graduate!) I’m especially comfortable working with children who may need a little extra patience, structure, reassurance, or help communicating their needs. I always try to meet each child where they are and make sure they feel safe, respected, and comfortable with me. ✨ Availability: Pickups, summer days, occasional weekends, school/DOE days off, and other occasional babysitting needs. I currently have availability for Wednesdays through Fridays ! I’d love the chance to get to know your family and hopefully become someone you and your little one feel comfortable having around. 💜
“Katrina has been an amazing sitter to our two kids (and dog!) for many years. She's so sweet, very reliable, engaging and fun with the kids. She's thoughtful and comes up with fun activities, the kids love her and we consider her family. She is bright, warm and tidy.”
Hi families! I’m a 30-year-old, reliable, energetic, and experienced sitter transitioning from a corporate career back to grad school for clinical psychology. I have been caring semi-regularly for children since I was 12 years old. I grew up with four siblings—two of whom are 12 years younger than me—and I played an active role in helping raise them. That hands-on experience continued through college and my corporate working life here in NYC with dozens of families (new to UrbanSitter, previously used HelloSitter). It has also recently come full circle as I’ve supported my siblings with their own babies, helping with everything from the sensitive postpartum newborn stage to chasing active toddlers. After several years in the corporate tech world, I’ve left to pursue my master’s degree. This schedule change allows me to return to what I genuinely love: hanging out with kids. I bring the “adult” reliability of a former professional (punctual, communicative, safety-conscious) mixed with the warmth and energy of a seasoned aunt/uncle. I am comfortable with all ages, confident with bedtime routines, and happy to help with homework or light meal prep. Looking forward to meeting your family! Note: I built the majority of my career in journalism, and I love tutoring if any kids need help with their homework or college essays!
“Mara is so wonderful. Very responsive, capable, warm, communicative… and my kids immediately liked her. ”
Hi- My name is Maya and I am currently a junior at NYU. I am offering childcare, pet care, and household services. I have always loved being a babysitter and spending time with kids and have taken care of mostly 4 year olds and older and a 1 year old since being in high school. I also worked as a summer camp counselor for 3 years with loads of different aged children. I also tutored young children in high school and have worked with high school children since being in college. A fun fact about me is I am fluent in French if any children happen to be needing language help. I am mostly looking for childcare opportunities as I absolutely adore looking after children and watching them grow and experience all the energy and joy they have to offer. I am a responsible, attentive, and energetic caretaker, am very patient when need be, and will be able to communicate with children and parents about anything that may come up. I can also work as a household assistant and can run errands, as well as love caring for all sorts of animals and would also be interested in pet care services. *I will be out of town June 19-29 my schedule is very clear and flexible before and after that
