Hi families, my name is Valentina and I'm 23 years old and I'm from the beautiful country Colombia. I'm studying Foreign Trade because I like to practice English, I'm trying to improve it and I would like to spend time with kids because I think that they're the best teachers! In my free time I love to spend time with my friends and family, also, I love to have time for me and myself just watching TV shows, movies or just resting. I have experience taking care kids because I passed a lot of time with my little sister, my cousins and little neighbors, I took care of them a lot of times and also I did a volunteer in a daycare, I spent a lot of time with babies, I love their innocence and the way that you can win their hearts.

As an educated and experienced early childhood professional, I know how to make the most of teachable moments in everyday experiences. I spent my first career working with children and families in various educational settings, with children from birth through the teenage years, and understand the critical development happening during these different stages. Now I work as a family therapist, and I love to provide babysitting services as a way of staying connected to my roots! I enjoy getting to know each child as an individual, and creating the best environment for them. I have worked with children, teens, and young adults with varying needs, including children with autism, Down syndrome, epilepsy, asthma, and moderate to severe behavioral diagnoses. I am comfortable with and trained to administer medications, including epi-pens. I have experience with cloth diapering, baby led weaning, and various parenting styles- it’s important for me to connect with the way you prefer your child to be interacted with.

I have been working in the field of Occupational Therapy for 33 years, 17 of them in the schools with children with special needs. I have raised three children of my own and have 5 delightful Grandchildren. I like to plan fun age and developmentally appropriate activities to assist in developing self-esteem, creativity, self-expression, curiosity, character and compassion. I enjoy seeing and assisting children thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. My Grandchildren know that "Nana's" most important job is keeping them safe. I encourage children to problem solve and to communicate openly. Communication is key in all my relationships no matter the age. I was a life guard as a young adult, a Girl Scout leader and volunteered for outdoor adventure companies that work with the physically challenged population. I even taught adaptive PE for a term. I co-owned an organic farm CSA for 10 joyous years. We also made herbal products and sold them at the Farmer's Market. I am an animal lover as well so be assured that your pets will also receive attention. Some call me the dog or the cat-whisperer... (Side note: I am a petsitter as well). I don't watch much TV as there are too many other choices as my interests are numerous from backpacking, kayaking, traveling especially in the developing world, volunteering, spending time with animals, my family and friends and of course my Grandchildren, reading, music, the performing arts, skiing, crocheting, yoga, crafts, gardening and trying to make this world a little more kind, more fun, lighter... Life is to be celebrated as it is a gift to share and enjoy with others and possibly to make their life a bit easier along the way.

I am a mother of 3. my daughter is 18 and my son is 6 and my other daughter is 2. my parents did foster care when I was younger, so I was exposed to all sorts of people and kids. I babysat for years, worked at a daycare and helped with many kids programs in my area and community. I love to be silly and creative.

Hello! My name is Mary and I'm excited to start working with you. I have a BA in English Lit with a minor in French. After graduating college I spent a year in France teaching English to French high schoolers. Before doing that I was a reading tutor and baby sat for many wonderful families, including families with autistic and ADHD sons. I have also worked as a skills coach for developmentally disabled adults and feel comfortable working with kids of different ability levels. My motto as a caregiver is patients, compassion, and most importantly having fun will make everyone's experience great. I am also a professional baker and pastry cook, and love to cook for kids or with them! I've been living in Portland for about 5 years now and I love this beautiful city and all it has to offer. In my spare time I like to go biking with my boyfriend, go on hikes, sketch (mostly flowers and nature stuff), read, and write poetry. I also love superhero movies, cartoons, and photography.
