She’s fantastic at playing with him and keeps him entertained with activities that suit his age and interests, while being sensitive to our family’s cultural nuances. Hi there! My name is Sabrina, and I’m a graphic designer living near Hermosa Beach. Originally from Oahu, I moved to Los Angeles to attend Pepperdine University and graduated in 2019. I have over 15 years of experience working with children in various roles, including as a day camp counselor, tutor, and nanny. I truly miss working with children, which is why I’m excited to rejoin Urbansitter. I’d love to create a positive, nurturing environment for your child. Please feel free to reach out—thank you!
Hi! I’m a developmental therapist with a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth, confidence, and emotional well-being. I currently work with children ages 3–10 while pursuing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development, with a concentration in Youth Work and Out-of-School Time. I’ve spent over six years working with children in a variety of settings, including schools, preschools, camps, and families’ homes. I’ve worked in special education with LAUSD, taught preschool in both San Francisco and Portland, and spent four years as a camp counselor with Camp Galileo. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with children of different ages, personalities, and needs, and have taught me how important it is to meet each child where they are. I also have several years of nannying experience and have worked with around seven different families. I’ve helped with everything from weekly childcare and school pickups to overnight trips, meal preparation, bedtime routines, arts and crafts, homework, and keeping children engaged throughout the day. I really enjoy creating a balance between structure and fun—whether that means getting creative with an activity, heading outside to play, helping with homework, or simply being a caring and dependable presence for a child. Outside of my professional work, I’ve always been passionate about giving back to children and families. I’ve volunteered with organizations such as Safe & Sound, where I provided peer counseling and support, and Reading Partners, where I tutored elementary school children who were working to improve their reading skills. I would describe myself as warm, patient, responsible, and easygoing. I truly enjoy getting to know each child as an individual and creating a relationship where they feel comfortable, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. I’d love the opportunity to get to know your family and see how I can be a helpful part of your child’s life!
“Janie was an excellent sitter for our two young children (4 and 6). She is warm and calm, listens carefully and responds thoughtfully to our children. She provides constructive guidance to them, helps them stay organized, encourages them to use words to talk out their disputes, and makes them feel safe. She was always on time, and proactive in planning. She helped with school pick-up and prepped dinner and fed our children on some evenings. I would definitely hire Janie again, and recommend her highly for your family.”
I have a history of caring for people throughout my entire life. I started babysitting and doing art projects with my neighbor's children at the age of 13. I was the kid who taught all the other kids to draw, waterski, and help with chores. I was a traveling nanny for five children, moving around with the family during the summers for their vacations and working at home with them for one full year. I cooked for them, took them to events, and entertained them; I drove them all over for sightseeing outings and managed all their needs. It was a big job and I was only 18. I went on to house-sit and provide child care for many friends and neighbors over the years. I also house-sit and pet-sit for many clients. I started my own pet-sitting service while working at a pet store when I was 19. I became a gallery salesperson at the age of 19 and soon began attending community college, where I completed my general ed towards my BFA. I then moved to Paris, France, for a year to further my studies. After graduating with my BFA, I pursued a career as an art center director, curator, and exhibitions coordinator. I raised two sons, one from birth and the second I adopted when he was 15. I was the carpool parent, the extra special event parent, the yummy snack parent, and the art and museum experience parent. I also directed an art center for 11 years, during which I created an after-school arts and academic education program serving elementary through high school at-risk youth. I went on to direct non-profit museum spaces, work as a college professor with community college students, and freelance as an exhibition coordinator and curator for a U.S. exhibition touring, serving a world-renowned artist. I continued to help elderly friends in need, care for children, and house- and pet-sit. I am the friend most people call on for choices, errands, childcare, help when someone is sick, rides, fun, adventure, hikes, house repairs, or care, and help in general. I enjoy helping people, and I am very good at it. I am 57 years young and have spent my life caring for people, as my career and life have blossomed.
I am a trained Early Childhood Educator from Switzerland with a professional diploma in childcare and early childhood development. I am fluent in both French and can speak English but still work on it. I have strong experience caring for children of different ages, supporting their emotional, social, and developmental needs in a safe and nurturing environment. I am used to working with routines, preparing meals, organizing activities, and creating a calm and structured space where children feel secure and happy. I am reliable, patient, and attentive, and I take my responsibility as a caregiver very seriously. Families can trust me to provide high-quality care, respect their home, and give their children the attention and care they deserve.
