As a Senior philosophy and English double major at Howard University, I bring a unique blend of intellectual curiosity and communication skills to the table. My experience as a debate coach for middle schoolers at DC Prep showcases my ability to guide and mentor young minds. Additionally, my role in caring for my 4 younger siblings, aged 2 years old to 18 years old, along with four years of dedicated care for my infant cousins, highlights my nurturing nature. This extensive background in childcare, coupled with my college studies, demonstrates a well-rounded skill set for the role of your child Or children baby sitter. My natural patience and emphasis on communication further underscore my suitability, making me an ideal candidate to ensure a safe and enriching environment for children under my care. BLS/CPR Certified for both Infant and Adult
Hi! My name is Shannon and I’ve been in DC for 6 years. I offer babysitting services for families and at a local church nursery. I’ve always loved kids and have 3 nieces and 1 nephew. I love playing games with them and going to park whenever I am back home and spent a lot of time with them before moving to DC. I started babysitting in high school and also worked at a local gym in their Kid Zone. There, I’d create and lead crafts, organize games, and maintain and safe and fun environment. At the church nursery, I usually babysit kids under 2 years old. I’m comfortable with kids of all ages.
Hello, I'm a current Middle School English teacher. I have babysitting experience since 2017 on the site and before. (Mild Allergy to Cats, usually solved with open windows or with having the cat in another room or even if the cat is generally shy).
“She was great with my baby! She kept him engaged and on schedule and he really liked her ”
Hello, my name is Michelle and I’ve taken care of kids since the end of my high school year. What I most like about babysitting is the environment the child makes by being creative and learning from each thing they do and it’s basically never a dull moment. My motive is to help out parents and give them a fresh start each day when coming back home from work. I also have experience with newborns. I am a recent college graduate and soon to transferring to University to get my bachelors degree.
I have been working with children for the past decade or so, and have been focusing on working with infants and toddlers for the past 5 years. I recently took a break from UrbanSitter to focus on Substitute Teaching (1.5 years with DCPS), but miss the level of flexibility babysitting gave me. I focus on forming strong emotional bonds with the kids in my care, based on mutual respect and acknowledgment of every person's inherent worth. In the next couple of years, I am hoping to get my masters in education and pursue a career as a classroom teacher. I am LGBTQ+ friendly and willing to negotiate pricing and expectations based on the personal needs of your family. NB: I have fibromyalgia which greatly affects my availability to work on a day-to-day basis. It might seem like I lack the tenacity or the eagerness of other providers, but on the contrary, I believe my disability has made me even more passionate about providing quality care for every family.
