I graduated from Oklahoma City University with a dual degree BA in cello performance and liberal arts and obtained my MA in Public International Law/ Human Rights degree from John Jay college. I have eight years of experience working as a nanny and I can provide multiple references upon request. Through college, I took classes in child development and had various opportunities to work as a tutor as well as a full-time and part-time babysitter to families with children of varying ages, including newborns. I started working as a mother's helper at the age of 10, and have been babysitting ever since! In high school I worked as a nanny 20 hours a week for a wonderful family with two infants, and also volunteered at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital to ensure children separated from their parents for long periods of time were receiving the critical attention needed to develop their gross and fine motor skills. During college I worked as an occasional sitter for many different families in the D.C. area. I have been living in New York for about 5 years now and work full-time as a Copywriter at a creative agency, so I just take a few babysitting jobs each month on nights and weekend :) For five summers when I was 18-23, I worked as a counselor at Camp Onaway, a sleep-away camp for girls ages 8-15 in New Hampshire. I have babysat for children with special needs and behavioral differences, and I am always happy to accommodate any communication/behavioral/educational methods that your family prefers (though I do not have any specific certifications or training for different needs). I speak Russian and Spanish and I am happy to help children learning either language by simply speaking to them or working on certain vocabulary.
