I have 4 years of experience in education: 2 years working in elementary after school programs as a creative writing teacher + 2 years as a full time middle school humanities teacher. Every summer for the last two years I have worked part time in a daycare, primarily caring for infants and toddlers. I currently work as an ELA teacher at an arts high school. I am passionate about community organization, art, literature, and learning. While enrolled in a research program in Costa Rica I worked in a small rural primary school as a teacher’s aid and English + Social Sciences instructor. I mostly worked with children ages 3-12 as well as children with special needs and disabilities. During this time I helped the school community organize fun and unique activities for the students and worked directly with parents to assist in their children's progress. Since then I have been part-time babysitting here in the states. My time working with children has taught me how to encourage, support, and provide a sense of safety and care. Overseeing both large and small classrooms has made me well equipped to handle and diffuse high stress situations with patience and caution. I would describe myself as a high energy, compassionate, patient sitter with a big heart. I enjoy teaching and reading to children, working on arts and crafts projects, and engaging their creativity. Hello there! A little bit about me 😊 I’m currently a student studying Communication Sciences and Disorders with the goal of becoming a Speech Therapist for kiddos! I have 4 going on 5 years of experience working with children in special education, ABA therapy, early intervention, private nannying, and childcare settings. Most of my experience comes from working at a school in Tribeca for children with autism and an early intervention center. That is where I learned the most and did the most growing with ages 2-12. I love keeping childcare fun, playful, and lighthearted, while also being comfortable working with a variety of behaviors, developmental needs, and communication styles. I bring patience, structure, and an educated approach while still making sure kids can be kids! I’m currently looking for a part-time position of around 20 hours a week or less.
