Hello! My name is Mica! I LOVE working with kids and families. I have a TON of experience and consider myself a natural caretaker with a very loving, engaged and nurturing approach. In my over 20 years of experience working as a childcare provider, I have worked for over 60 families and watched literally hundreds of children. I've worked with some families for over 10 years, watching as their family grew from one 2 year old to having four kids! From newborn to middle school, but with the majority of my experience being with newborns and infants to young elementary. My mother was a nursery school teacher and my siblings and I worked summers at their nursery school camp program, which is where I had a lot of parents asking me to babysit from there. I worked occasionally as a substitute assistant teacher at that same nursery school as well. I have a B.A. in Psychology and took classes on developmental psychology, studying attachment theory and so on. A little more about my background: I am the oldest child in my family and even amongst extended family and family friends children, so since I was a child myself I've been put in charge of watching the younger kids! But I started babysitting officially at 14. I also have young nieces and nephew who I've watched extensively as well :) I am half Japanese and grew up living in Japan at least every other summer. I speak a little Japanese and know a little Spanish as well and consider myself very culturally sensitive. I've also taken cross-cultural psychology and just have a real love of other cultures, I've worked for multiple families with immigrant parents and bilingual children :) Some personal interests are health and wellness/fitness/dance, healthy plant based cooking, volunteering, music! I sing and play a little guitar and love when the kids get excited about that as well! I drive and have my own car, I've taken children to and from every activity including doctors appointments. I've done overnights, full weekends and have traveled internationally with families. I can cook/prepare meals, help with homework where needed and do some light housekeeping as well if desired. I have experience with elderly relatives in the home with dementia, etc, and experience with pet and plant sitting. I am open and flexible! :) Feel free to ask me about anything else I may have missed! Love working with and helping families and look forward to working with yours! :) Be well and looking forward to chatting! :) -Mica
“Mica is the ultimate baby whisperer. She worked for us when my daughter was a newborn, helping us as first time parents immensely. Mica helped with diaper changes, feeding (which was an exceptional challenge for us in the early days), and sleep (which was another big challenge!). We continue to use Mica for occasional babysitting for the last 2.5 years and recommend her to other families in our neighborhood. My daughter does not take to new people easily but instantly fell in love with Mica and goes to her with ease when I need to step out. Mica is the best!”
Hello! My name is Damali, and caring for children has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I have experience working with children of all ages in a variety of settings, including as a private nanny, an early childhood educator, a dance instructor, and a summer camp leader. For a year, I had the privilege of supporting a single mother by providing dependable, compassionate childcare and creating a safe, loving environment where her child could thrive. I've also worked in early childhood education at Brightside Academy, where I partnered with teachers to support children's learning, social development, and emotional well-being while maintaining strong communication with parents. One of my greatest passions is using creativity to help children grow. As a Dance Instructor and Event Coordinator with the YMCA, I taught dance to children of all age groups and coordinated large performances that brought together multiple grade levels. Those experiences taught me how to build confidence, encourage teamwork, celebrate each child's unique personality, and create an environment where every child felt included and valued. Families often describe me as patient, dependable, nurturing, and positive. I genuinely enjoy helping children learn, explore, and build confidence while ensuring they feel safe, respected, and cared for. Whether we're reading books, dancing, completing homework, exploring creative activities, or simply sharing laughs throughout the day, my goal is to create meaningful experiences that support both the child and the entire family. I would be honored to care for your little ones and become someone your family can trust and depend on.
Hello, my name is Daija and I am a graduate, holding my degree in public health education and promotion. I love going to museums, and experiencing new things. I have previously worked at two preschools as an assistant teacher. I changed diapers, provided meals, played with the kids, and cleaned up after them. I am offering childcare services. I have been working with kids in the school system as well as babysitting, between the ages of two and middle school ages for eight years now. I also am able to work with pets; I have two cats and a dog of my own.
Hello! I’m a 29 year old student double majoring in Social Sciences at Columbia University. I’m originally from San Diego, CA & the Tijuana, BC area in Mexico. I’m CPR and First Aid Certified, speak English, Spanish, & conversational French. I’ve been caring for children over 10 years! I’m the best at pretend play, board games, crafts, singing and dancing with the kiddos. I clean up after all our activities which I strive to make engaging, educational, and fun; no matter the age group! I’ve cared for multiple (10+) children at a time, special needs children, have assisted at events, cared for sick children, children with allergies, and have also worked in a daycare setting environment. The ages of the children I’ve cared for range from 4 weeks - 16 years old. I have plenty references I’d be delighted to provide, including my latest long term position in the city. I can pick up/drop off and drive around your children, have a valid drivers license and clean driving record, can tutor or help with homework. I truly love spending time with children and enjoy their company, I value the flexibility of my profession and difference from a 9-5 job. I’m really excited to find a family that will be the best fit for me and hope to soon be the best fit for someone else! My goal is to provide the best service possible without a transactional experience. Thank you so much for taking the time to review my profile!
“Sylvia is great! She’s really good at communication and she’s incredibly punctual. She’s awesome with my daughter and you can tell she actually cares and wants to make the experience fun for the child. 10/10 recommend, will definitely be booking again !! ”
Hi there! Thank you for considering me. Here’s a bit about me: I am a former elementary school special education teacher in which I have 6 years of experience. Last year, I transitioned out my teaching role and now own a travel agency. Now that I'm no longer in the classroom I primarily support families with providing occasional care for after school, family nights out, last minute cancellations, as well as nannying abroad. UrbanSitter has given me the opportunity to continue supporting families and use my educator skills in a variety of settings. I am oldest sister of 3 and was the primary sitter for my brothers growing up. They inspired me to become a teacher and bring love and compassion into the classroom, and now anywhere I go. I have experience with infants, toddlers and elementary age children. I am able to change diapers, follow feeding directions and complete a variety of care routines as needed. I offer virtual homework help and tutoring services as well. Feel free to message me about this to discuss rate if interested.
“She was amazing—by far the most reliable sitter I’ve ever had! Despite the early morning shift, she arrived right on time and kept me updated as she was on her way. My child had a great time with her.”
