Hello! My name is Anna and I'd love to be your weeknight and weekend sitter. I have 9 years of experience babysitting kids of all ages, from infants to teenagers. I do my best to provide a fun time when I'm with your kids while also making sure that all of your rules and routines are followed too. My disciplinary methods for younger children (toddler age to 4, 5 years old) involve distraction and explaining why something isn't allowed. I always want kids to understand why rules are in place and why they need to be followed if they ask. For older kids (6 + years old) I prefer using positive reinforcement, giving them a treat when they do well, over negative reinforcement, taking away something they already have, because I find the carrot works much better than the stick, so to speak. I am flexible in accommodating to whatever methods of discipline you use for your children while I am babysitting them. I love babysitting because it helps bring out my inner kid and play with kids and teach them what I know! Kids are very curious, and I love answering their questions about how things work. Working with kids helps me to be a more nurturing and patient person, and I love engaging with and playing with kids while I'm watching them. I'll monkey around on the playground with them, play hide and seek, Monsters, Lava, etc. because I enjoy myself and love feeling like a kid again. One of my favorite activities to do with kids is to take them to the park if it's still light outside. I find that it's very easy to have kids sucked into screen time because it provides easy distractions for them, and I prefer for kids to not have too much screen time while I'm with them. I love playing games with kids, and especially love reading to them. They love the character voices I make while reading to them! I have had pets my whole life: dogs, cats, rabbits, and chickens alike, and am happy to work with all pets. I am happy to do light housework when the kids are asleep or when there is down time. I know being a parent is hard work, so coming home to a clean house is always a nice feeling, and I'm happy to help when there is time for that.

I retired 6 years ago and moved to Austin after living in Dallas for 35 years. I raised 4 kids, 3 and under while working full time and maintaining my sanity ;-) My kids are all grown and now I have two grandkids 4 and 10 months here that I help out with when needed. My 4 year old grandson spends the night with me and is always asking to come over to my place. I also tutor math at one of the middle schools. I have hosted 9 international exchange students for a year of high school and still involved in the program though I don’t host any longer. I speak passable Spanish as well. I learned when raising my family how to be flexible, organized, creative and loving. I like to have fun and interact with my grandkids. We don’t watch a lot of television but instead play age appropriate games that are fun and interactive. I can bring the same fun, loving experience to you.

I am also a certified Respite Caregiver with the State of Texas. I have completed trainings and a federal background check through the Department of Child Services.
