I have a degree in ECE and some SPEDU credits, but have decided to go back to college to change my major and become a child psychologist. Currently, I work as a substitute teacher and also as a barista at Starbucks, where I love greeting people with a smile and helping make their day a little brighter. My name is Daphne. I’m originally from California, and I have been living in Portland for the last 8 years. I have three much younger siblings for whose care I was responsible during summers when my parents worked their 9-5s. I have experience caring for infants, toddlers, and school-age children, and teenagers. I am able to tutor in all elementary subjects. I enjoy playing sports/games, building forts, doing puzzles, going and walks, and more. I enjoy engaging meaningfully with children and watching them learn about their world.

I have been a CHAMPS volunteer [Monticello, R. A. Long, and Kessler] and working for DCYF as a Special Needs FFN Caregiver for the last 5 years while attending college so I already have my MERIT and STARS numbers. My last position was at Northlake Elementary as a Paraeducator High Needs Extensive[Intensive] watching 13 kids with 2 other para's.

I have several years of childcare experience, including nannying for a one-year-old for the past year and caring for a two- and three-year-old for two years. I’ve also worked at summer camps, so I’m comfortable planning activities and keeping kids engaged. I’m outgoing, reliable, and easy to communicate with. I’m currently in graduate school for counseling, which has strengthened my ability to connect with children and support their emotional development.
