My name is Maria Elena, but I go by Elena. I’m originally from El Salvador and have been living in the Bay Area for 33 years. I am a single mother to an almost 14-year-old boy. I have many years of experience working with children—over eight years as a nanny before my son was born and as part of a nanny share since he was six months old. I truly enjoy spending time with children by reading, doing fun activities, and being outdoors. I love taking kids to the zoo, Fairyland, parks, and library story times. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and reading. I have taken many child development classes, and last year I graduated with a degree in Child Development.

Hello families! I love working with children and am looking for babysitting opportunities with kids of any age! I enjoy spending time with kids doing crafts, reading stories at bedtime, and keeping them happy and safe. Some of my hobbies include photography, singing, knitting, and yoga. I am a graduate of San Francisco State University, where I studied psychology with an emphasis on child development. I have been babysitting since high school and have worked with many local families with kids ages 0-13. I was a tutor for a year at an after school program where I facilitated activities and helped the children with their homework. After graduating college I worked for a year and a half at a group home for kids (ages 6 to 18) who struggled with regulating themselves during stress. One summer I also worked at a pre-school prep where I interacted with kids ages 8 months to 3 years doing activities such as reading, singing, crafts, art and other activities. And then most recently I taught mindfulness for two years at Oakland Public Schools and have been substitute teaching for the past year. I was very active for many years on Urbansitter back when it first started from about 2012 to 2017 and then I took a long break from it to focus on other career goals. Now I’ve decided to make a return to it since I’m on summer break and am hoping to continue with it into the next school year as I plan to be part time with my regular job. I currently live in San Leandro and am willing to go to Oakland, Hayward, Castro Valley, San Francisco and Lafayette. I look forward to hearing from you! Sheena

Hi there, My name is Laisa. I am a 34-year-old career nanny from Brazil with over 20 years of experience caring for children ranging from 3 months to 15 years old. I speak Portuguese, English fluently, conversational Spanish and basic baby sign language. For the past decade, I have specialized exclusively in working with infants and toddlers, which is where my passion truly lies—and I don’t foresee that changing anytime soon. Open availability on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays starting September 14th, 2026. As an infant nanny, my goal is to follow and support the parenting style and boundaries set by each family, especially those who value a gentle, respectful approach. I believe strong, honest communication and mutual respect are essential for a successful working relationship. I take pride in building meaningful, long-term connections with the families I work with. My responsibilities focus on the child’s daily care and development. I am open to discussing additional non-child-related tasks if needed. I enjoy creating and following schedules as needed while remaining flexible and responsive to the child’s needs. I am not rigid in my approach and pride myself on being energetic, reliable, and adaptable with work hours. I focus on supporting speech and motor development through consistent verbal interaction—talking, reading, and singing throughout the day. I provide a safe, nurturing environment while encouraging exploratory and investigative play, both indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). Most importantly, I keep parents connected and informed by sharing photos, videos, and a daily progress report. I value professionalism and consistency. I do not cancel commitments unless there is an emergency, and I kindly ask that all scheduled hours be guaranteed once agreed upon (no banking hours). This is my livelihood, and I am truly looking for a family that aligns with my values and expectations.
Out of respect for the privacy of the families I’ve worked with, I provide letters of recommendation upon request. After an in-person meeting or trial day, I am happy to connect you with my references if we both feel it’s a good fit and would like to move forward with hiring process. Thank you for taking the time to read my message. If your parenting style aligns with mine style of guidance —loving, patient, and understanding—I would love to connect. Best regards,
Laisa

We had a very successful trial day with Laisa that led us to hire her as our part-time nanny. Laisa brought a gentle, patient, and inquisitive energy to caring for our 3-month old. She took all of our directions to heart and even sought out ways to help with additional baby-related chores. Our baby was very comfortable with Laisa and Laisa showered him in the near-constant interaction and attention he craves. Laisa has already worked so hard to accommodate our schedule and preferences. We can't wait to watch her relationship with our baby develop long-term. Highly recommend Laisa for part-time nannying, one-off babysitting days, or any other child-related care!

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
