Hello families! I love working with children and am looking for babysitting opportunities with kids of any age! I enjoy spending time with kids doing crafts, reading stories at bedtime, and keeping them happy and safe. Some of my hobbies include photography, singing, knitting, and yoga. I am a graduate of San Francisco State University, where I studied psychology with an emphasis on child development. I have been babysitting since high school and have worked with many local families with kids ages 0-13. I was a tutor for a year at an after school program where I facilitated activities and helped the children with their homework. After graduating college I worked for a year and a half at a group home for kids (ages 6 to 18) who struggled with regulating themselves during stress. One summer I also worked at a pre-school prep where I interacted with kids ages 8 months to 3 years doing activities such as reading, singing, crafts, art and other activities. And then most recently I taught mindfulness for two years at Oakland Public Schools and have been substitute teaching for the past year. I was very active for many years on Urbansitter back when it first started from about 2012 to 2017 and then I took a long break from it to focus on other career goals. Now I’ve decided to make a return to it since I’m on summer break and am hoping to continue with it into the next school year as I plan to be part time with my regular job. Hello! My name is Rakita I have over 25 years of babysitting and nannying experience with ages newborn to 12 yrs. I love to have fun, play games, read and provide excellent care to my families. I love to find out what my children’s interests are and allow them to lead in their play. For the little kiddos - playdoe, music, coloring and/or making toy/lego art. A favorite of mine is making oooblek which is a wonderful goo that toddlers to 3rd graders love to make. I also love to incorporate fun meal prep activities based on a child’s food preference and allergies. So if your child would like, we can make ants on a log (celery, your preferred butter if not peanut and raisins) or we make our own S’morse minus the camp fire☺️ or they help me make cookies and we decorate them, we can also decorate graham crackers if you prefer we don’t use the oven.
