Hi I’m Maddie and I currently work as an outdoor educator making the transition to classroom teaching this fall. I’ve worked in various childcare environments, finding the most reward from programs that prioritize outdoor experience, hands-on learning, creativity, and play. My interest in working with kids began in high school through various summer nannying and babysitting gigs, support at local in-home daycares and eventually with a local preschool. I’ve spent the past 5 years working in more structured outdoor-based school-year programs and summer camps. Within all of these roles I’ve worked with children of all ages, needs, backgrounds and experiences, allowing for me to have a deep understanding of how to support each child as an individual. I really appreciate being able to connect with all kids, and find great connection with people on the spectrum, or with behavioral needs. When working with kids, I love to find a balance between being energetic and silly with them while still maintaining respect and expectations.
