Hi! My name is Vanessa, and I have over 10 years of experience working with children of all ages, from newborns to teens. For the past 6 years, I've been with my current family full-time during the week. On weekends, I regularly help other families in Lafayette, providing childcare, doing overnights with the kids, and sometimes even dog sitting! I'm bilingual (English and Portuguese), CPR certified, and very flexible with scheduling. I'm also planning to move from my family's home by end of December and be based in San Francisco, so I'll be looking for a full-time position by then! I'm patient, responsible, and truly love what I do. I create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where kids feel supported. I'm happy to follow household routines. I'm also interested in becoming a certified doula to support growing families even more. I have many great references available upon request so fell free to reach out-I'd love to connect!

I cannot recommend Nessa highly enough! She is incredibly capable and dependable. Always showing up on time and ready to care for our children with genuine warmth and attentiveness. She is extremely responsible and trustworthy, which gives us complete peace of mind whenever we’re away. She clearly loves working with children and treats them with patience, kindness, and respect. She also respects our parenting style and household boundaries, which we deeply appreciate. She’s become my go-to person whenever I need someone; whether it’s a last-minute change or a planned night out, I know I can count on her. It’s such a relief to have someone so reliable and caring to turn to. In addition to being wonderful with the kids, she keeps everything neat and organized and even prepares delicious, healthy meals. Her cooking is a bonus we didn’t expect, and the kids love it! It’s so hard to find good sitters nowadays, but we feel so lucky to have her as part of our lives. She’s truly awesome!

Hello, I’m Lieu’Miya! I’ve been caring for children since I was 16 and truly enjoy supporting their growth and curiosity. Over the years I’ve worked with multiple families, including caring for infants and toddlers, which has made me very comfortable with different routines and developmental stages. I’m currently a 19-year-old college student working toward becoming an engineer, so I naturally enjoy problem solving and finding creative ways to keep kids curious, engaged, and learning. I’m patient, calm, and very adaptable to different personalities and routines. Many people describe me as confident and hilarious (pfft!) as I bring positive energy while also creating a safe and steady environment for kids. I’m naturally kind, attentive, and emotionally aware, which helps me build strong, trusting relationships. I love getting kids outside for parks, walks, and little adventures, but I’m just as happy doing crafts, reading together, or winding down with quiet activities at home. I truly enjoy encouraging curiosity, kindness, and creativity, and I always adjust my approach to meet each child’s individual needs. More than happy to help with light tidying, meals, and some housework as I can understand the need for help! I personally love to clean and keep the place in shape for you. This is my first year using this platform, and I’m excited about the opportunity to connect. I’m currently looking for one-time and part-time options. I hope to work with you and your family soon :)

Hello, I am a well seasoned nanny, with decades of childcare experience. I love children and delight in bringing ease and joy to family life. As a practicing Buddhist, the cultivation of kindness, compassion, composure, and the joy that arises in concert with these qualities, are integral to my well being and the care that I provide. As a young mother of two, I set aside a career path as a mechanical engineering professor in the field of mathematical fluid dynamics, and went on to homeschool my own four children, through Hearthstone Charter School, the Butte County home education program for which I was a founding board member, teaching countless other students and babysitting their younger siblings along the way. I have a researched understanding of child development and a variety of early childhood educational and parenting modalities. I truly enjoy being loving support to parents’ own philosophies. Well versed in RIE and Attachment Theory, specifically the emotional co-regulation that is foundational to Secure Attachment, I am inclined toward those aspects of Montessori and Waldorf education that foster authentic exploration and self mastery, and find respectful, holistic approaches to the care and education of children to be a natural extension of my Buddhist practice. I am particularly experienced with infants and toddlers, as well as gifted children of all ages, including those on the autism spectrum. I have found that a whole-child approach is essential to the care of children presenting with early signs of an IQ in the exceptionally (160-180) or profoundly (180+) gifted range. (I am happy to have a conversation on the topic of gifted children.) Here’s what the mom wrote on Berkeley Parent’s Network: "She has been taking care of our children for the last 4 years. She is truly incredible in a Mary Poppins-esque sort of way; very fit, from the Bay Area, raised 4 children herself, homeschooled them, phd in engineering, and chose childcare as a career later in life because she loves children. She has a warm personality and is amazing with the kids; creative, kind, receptive, respectful. She is also very smart and resourceful and can manage everything by herself, so if you want excellent childcare for your kids and not worry about anything, she is your gal." If you feel we may be compatible, let’s talk about your family’s needs and how I can help. All Good wishes, Mariah

So sweet and very reliable!

Hi there! My name is Cassandra (Cass for short!) and I’ve been exclusively nannying for 6 years with over 12 years total of childcare experience. I live in Oakland with my husband and our senior chihuahua, Wayward. Originally, I am from Newton, Massachusetts and went to college for Political Science. CPR and first aid certified.

Cass did a great job caring for my two young boys while preschool is out for summer break! She worked through some difficult moments where my older one missed me well, and left the house cleaner than when she found it! I'll be booking her for more help right away!

Booked by 7 families in Orinda, CA

Hi families! My name is Yasmin. I am a 30 year old childcare professional with 10 years of experience. My passion for working with children began at home as the oldest of four siblings–my youngest brother is only 7, and watching them grow has been a inspiration for my career. My professional journey began in 2017 during an exchange program in Switzerland, where I cared for a child from birth through age two. I later moved to the U.S. as an Au Pair, caring for three girls (ages 16 months, 4, and 6). Since then, I’ve continued working with families while consistently building and improving my skills. I am a certified postpartum doula and maintain CPR/First Aid certification for infants and children every two years. I have hands-on experience with feeding, diapering, and soothing newborns, including overnight care as a nighttime nanny. I’m also confident caring for babies who are learning to crawl or walk, and I enjoy encouraging their development through gentle play and interaction. In addition, I have experience with toddlers and school-aged children, supporting everything from potty training and homework help to meal prep and bedtime routines. I’ve also worked with children on the autism spectrum. I would love to bring my experience, flexibility, and positive energy to your family. I’m pet-friendly and have a valid driver’s license. I look forward to connecting with you!

Yasmin was great with our 4-year-old daughter. Our usually shy daughter was sad when Yasmin had to leave and ran up to give her a big hug goodbye. Highly recommend.

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
