I also spent many hours volunteering with children at my church. Since those early years, I have been the occasional babysitter, the long-term nanny, and worked in childcare at a business. I am very child-led when it comes to play and exploration, giving little ones a chance to control a bit of their world and dictate the things that interest them the most. But I also do my best to set a structure and routine to the day, with expectations for what will be occurring at different times, to give the children a sense of stability. One of my favorite things to do with kids is play pretend. I love helping them learn about their world and help them explore and use their imaginations.
