Hi there, My name is Nydia. I'm a transplant from California and attended SFSU to become a teacher. I've worked with Jumpstart in Hunters Point, SF and focused on helping elementary students catch up on their literacy proficiency. I later worked with the YMCA's after school programs. I moved to Chicago in 2011 and worked at Urban Child Academy as an assistant as well as part of the Spanish Immersion program (I am bilingual in Spanish). I began the Day Of The Dead ofrenda there and also helped young minds feel comfortable being in a school setting before they ventured off to kindergarten. Although I am no longer in education, I valued my time in all of the vast settings and learned that each child is different and caring for them is never a one size fits all task. I volunteer at One Tail At a Time and in the past with Alive Rescue. I had the privilege of adopting a sweet street pup I named Walter and had him for 8 years before he passed of old age last September. I hope to be a relief to a family a few days a week and offer my help. I live in Logan Square but do have a car and have lived in Chicago for 15 Winters so I definitely feel comfortable and confident in any neighborhood. Hello! I'm Medb and I use they/them pronouns. I'm 22 years old and am a psychology and statistics student at Cal Poly Humboldt, though am currently home in Lincoln Park for the summer. Since I was 12, I've worked for an organization called CircEsteem, a youth circus located in Uptown. There, I was a counselor, coach, and mentor for kids ages 2-17. I was immersed in a very diverse environment, and gained experience caring for children with different support needs. I also have taken care of infants as young as 3 months. As a sitter, and more broadly as an individual, I ground myself in the values of empathy, creativity, community, and self-esteem. Through play and art, I hope to aid in teaching kids the importance of loving ourselves and others. Additionally, I have worked as a tutor for both grade school and high school students and am always happy to help with homework. I am currently task training my own service dog, and am very pet friendly :) And as a fun little bonus, I love teaching kids basic circus skills like juggling, and am into all kinds of art work and creative projects!
