$20 per hour for 1 child

Growing up I always wanted a sibling this is where my love for children developed. My first babysitting job started as a teenager. After high school I attended college at East Carolina University my degree is elementary education and child development family relations. After becoming a first time mom the thought of having someone I did not know provide care terrified me. I decided to stay home and become a nanny and help other moms in my same situation. I have been caring for infants for the past 23 years. After many years of education and hands-on experience I provide quality care and treat each child just as I would my own. I also have two children of my own boy and girl.

Smithfield
$23 per hour for 1 child
Booked by 8 families in Micro, NC

I am forty years old and currently live in Smithfield, NC. I have a BA in Public Policy Analysis from UNC Chapel Hill and have completed twenty-four hours toward a Masters degree in Public Administration at UNC Wilmington. Most recently, I worked as the Executive Director at Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation, where I did economic development, facilitated placemaking initiatives, planned events, and worked with community partners. I am currently taking care of my mother, who has cancer. I have been babysitting for more than twenty-five years, since the age of twelve. I was a YMCA Afterschool Counselor, Summer Camp Counselor, and Swimming Lessons Instructor during high school and in the summers when I was in college. In Chapel Hill, I often babysat for members of the Chapel Hill Mother's Club. I joined Stellar Sitters in Wilmington after I moved there in July of 2007, and have worked with them in the Raleigh area since the fall of 2008. I also volunteered in Grow Zone (the nursery) at Port City Community Church in Wilmington. I have significant experience with school-aged children through the YMCA, and significant experience with babies, toddlers, and school-aged children through babysitting. I regularly care for my niece, who was born April 4, 2011 and has brought so much joy into my life! I really love interacting with children -- there's not a lot in this world that is more special or rewarding than seeing the excitement on a child's face when they accomplish something for the first time or learn something new! Some of my favorite things to do while babysitting are playing pretend and getting to see wild imaginations at work, arts and crafts and playing outside. I can have fun getting dirty and making a mess, but I will make sure that everything is cleaned up as it was when we started. It is my hope to encourage a child to be honest, responsible, respectful and caring, and to do this in a way that your child is entertained, learning and safe. I am glad to help with homework, do crafts, prepare food, and provide transportation. In my free time, I am often at a softball field or in the stands at volleyball and basketball games cheering on my niece. I am also an active member of the Junior Women’s League of Smithfield and volunteer for many community organizations. I enjoy cheering on my Tar Heels, photography, outside activities, scuba diving, and traveling! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Did a great job of taking care of our daughter and cleaning up the toys and kitchen. Thank you!

$23 per hour for 1 child

Hi there! I’m Stephanie. I’m 32 years old and I have over 10 years of childcare experience with a variety of ages, although I have minimal background with children under 6 months. I have a plethora of special needs experience, especially with ASD and ADHD. I have worked with over 100 families performing date night and backup care and have had multiple more consistent nanny families over the years. The latter included everything from meal prep, pickups and drop offs, to tutoring. My undergraduate education is in environmental studies. I took a tropical biology field quarter in Costa Rica during college and as a result, know basic conversational Spanish. Post graduation, I worked for a period of time as a teacher for an outdoor school and also seasonally in parks. After this time, I spent years working in IT as an analyst. I’m currently in a masters of data science program. In my spare time, I ride horses and am an amateur photographer. I’m also teaching myself Japanese. Additionally, I love tinkering with computers and playing video games just as much as I enjoy being outside! It brings me great joy sharing all of my passions with kiddos. I favor the Montessori method and enjoy doing interactive activities with children like tinker crates. I also love getting kids outside when possible. I have many cameras and sometimes bring them to share with kids when requested, indoors or outdoors! When it comes to parenting style, authoritative is what I lean towards. I focus on positive reinforcement where possible and creating a collaborative environment with kids so they feel part of the process i.e “would you rather brush your teeth in 2 minutes or 5 minutes?” Instead of simply telling them to brush their teeth. As well as, bringing fun activities the next time I come as a reward for good behavior that day. Due to my schooling, I am currently only accepting occasional jobs. Given I am a student and work with multiple families, I am not able to work with sick kids in most instances. PLEASE inform me if your child is ill, I will do the best I can to work with you. I also cannot take a job with only a few hours of notice. I need at least 24 hours.

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
