Hello all! I'm looking forward to meeting new families. I have been a childcare provider for twelve years and I love working with kids and babies. I went to FIT for fine arts, and I love to help children learn to paint 🎨 and explore their musical abilities (I teach guitar 🎸). I like to cook🥘, and my favorite meal to make is buttery cheesy pasta with veggies. I like to play music from jam bands like Kruangbin while helping with homework and studying. I know things have been challenging for everyone during this time, and I am happy to be a strong supportive presence for any family who needs me. Creating a positive, loving, tidy, and structured environment is very important. 📚It’s great to have reading time throughout the day and it’s important for kids to learn by example, so I like to read books to the younger kids, and have book time with the older kids where we all read our own personal books. My favorite book is The Girl Who Fell From the Sky by Heidi W. Durrow. For families that like to include technology in their little ones' routine, I like to use fun different language apps to help build a new linguistic foundation. I am an intermediate French speaker so practicing French, in particular, is fun for me. My most recent experience includes working with a 2 year old in Indonesia and two toddlers in Brooklyn. I love playing sports with kids and getting to run outside with them and have as much fresh air as possible. Tag and soccer are favorite games of mine and I like shooting hoops🏀 Everyone's safety is of the most importance, being strict about mask wearing, hand washing, and all around vigilance is essential. Let me introduce myself- I’m monica. I I was born in Colombia, South American, As a child I was adopted and raised in New York City by my mother who was a public school teacher for 36 years before retiring from the NYC Board of Education. I married at a young age and now have an amazing eighteen year old daughter, who is a freshman at college in Michigan. Throughout my daughter’s childhood I was fortune enough to be a full time mother, and so I devoted myself completely to her. I am eternally grateful for my role as her mother. When she was a child, she sang, with the children’s Chorus of New York Metropolitan Opera. Rehearsal, auditions, and picking her up from school took up most of my time. There were many trips to the park, theater performances, dancing classes, and other varied experiences. I have listed these so you will feel assured that I will do these or other activities to enrich the lives of your children.
