Hi, I’m Madeline. I’m new to Urbansitter and I’m offering childcare, pet care and household services. I grew up babysitting for my family and neighbors often as a teenager. I adore working with kids and spending time with them. In more recent years I’ve been working in DOE schools as a substitute teacher. Primarily in East Flatbush with elementary aged students. Over the past two years I had the pleasure of teaching with a co-teacher in one classroom. This has given me the opportunity to better see and facilitate growth in my students and create genuine bonds. I also have experience teaching art classes and afterschool classes through a local studio where my responsibilities included lesson planning, tutoring, and behavioral management. I love taking kids outside, swimming if they enjoy that, baking and doing art projects. I grew up with pets, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. I can also cook, clean and run errands as per your needs. A bit about my background: Most recently, I served as a Public Speaking Instructor for teens through TED Summer School at Barnard College, where I loved helping students build confidence and find their voice. I’ve also nannied children from 6 months to 12 years old, including a 2-year-old I cared for on weekends and during daycare drop-off and pickup. While in college, I was a dedicated part-time nanny for two Bay Area families, and over the years I’ve also worked as a YMCA therapeutic youth mentor, Girl Scout camp counselor, and Boys & Girls Club and Make-A-Wish volunteer. Child development matters deeply to me. I have 20 years of experience working with children. I studied Sociology (BA from UCSB) and understand how meaningful early experiences can be in shaping a child’s confidence and sense of self. When I babysit, I like to actively engage children through imaginative play, creativity, conversation, and activities—with limited technology when possible. I want children to feel heard, understood, cared for, and free to be themselves. I’m also happy to handle bedtime or naps, including winding down with a good book. Hello Parents, My name is Patricia, im a Studio Art college graduate and originally from Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. My childcare experience began at the age of 11. Living with both my aunts and uncles under one roof, babysitting my younger cousins wasn't a job it was apart of my life. Hello my name is Sade. I am 30 and currently majoring in Speech Pathology. Starting at the age of 14, I began my first job at the Brooklyn Children's Museum. Working with toddlers at a young age taught me the patience I would need working with children. Years later I'm even more passionate about children and experienced with children aged 13 months to 15 years old, but I am also comfortable with younger infants. I can do anything that is expected from changing diapers and making sure your child is fed to helping with homework and getting them ready for bed.
