Hi, I’m Madeline. I’m new to Urbansitter and I’m offering childcare, pet care and household services. I grew up babysitting for my family and neighbors often as a teenager. I adore working with kids and spending time with them. In more recent years I’ve been working in DOE schools as a substitute teacher. Primarily in East Flatbush with elementary aged students. Over the past two years I had the pleasure of teaching with a co-teacher in one classroom. This has given me the opportunity to better see and facilitate growth in my students and create genuine bonds. I also have experience teaching art classes and afterschool classes through a local studio where my responsibilities included lesson planning, tutoring, and behavioral management. I love taking kids outside, swimming if they enjoy that, baking and doing art projects. I grew up with pets, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. I can also cook, clean and run errands as per your needs. I am CPR/AED certified.

Madeline cared for three of our children for two hours. She remained calm and capable during some very challenging behavior and thoughtfully checked with me about how I wanted her to respond. Her teaching experience was evident, and she was also personable and lovely to have around. I would definitely hire her again.

Booked by 3 families in Elmhurst, NY

NYC-based. A bit about my background: Most recently, I served as a Public Speaking Instructor for teens through TED Summer School at Barnard College, where I loved helping students build confidence and find their voice. I’ve also nannied children from 6 months to 12 years old, including a 2-year-old I cared for on weekends and during daycare drop-off and pickup. While in college, I was a dedicated part-time nanny for two Bay Area families, and over the years I’ve also worked as a YMCA therapeutic youth mentor, Girl Scout camp counselor, and Boys & Girls Club and Make-A-Wish volunteer. Child development matters deeply to me. I have 20 years of experience working with children. I studied Sociology (BA from UCSB) and understand how meaningful early experiences can be in shaping a child’s confidence and sense of self. When I babysit, I like to actively engage children through imaginative play, creativity, conversation, and activities—with limited technology when possible. I want children to feel heard, understood, cared for, and free to be themselves. I’m also happy to handle bedtime or naps, including winding down with a good book. My availability is currently flexible as I settle into my new NYC neighborhood, so I’m happy to connect about recurring or occasional childcare needs. I’d love to get to know your family!

Stephanie is a delight! She took great care of our 2 yo. She's attentive and kind and fun. We worked with her as a regular – she helped out with daycare pickup and dropoff, date nights, and weekend care. She was always on time, professional, organized, and communicative. We were sad when she moved away, and our 2 yo still asks about her!

Hello Parents, My name is Patricia, im a Studio Art college graduate and originally from Ditmas Park, Brooklyn. My childcare experience began at the age of 11. Living with both my aunts and uncles under one roof, babysitting my younger cousins wasn't a job it was apart of my life. Before graduating from college, I studied abroad in South Korea. where I taught English as a second language in winter/summer camps for younger learners (age range: 5-10). For the past four and half years, I have had the opportunity to care for children varying in age from 2 1/2 months to 11 years old from UrbanSitter since 2012 and working as an on-call nanny for Bright Horizons agency for 4 years. Currently work as Special Education D75 Paraprofessional for the DOE. Working with Children with ADHD and Autism. What I like most about babysitting is developing activities that focus of creative exploration like coloring, drawing, painting, legos, imaginary story telling, stage play, and going on library/park/ museum outings. I also love reading and sing songs. In my free time, I love practicing Yoga, dance, and reading.

Patricia was excellent! She asked good questions ahead of time to make sure she knew what was expected of her during her care of my cats. She followed up regularly with updates and pictures.

Hello my name is Sade. I am 30 and currently majoring in Speech Pathology. Starting at the age of 14, I began my first job at the Brooklyn Children's Museum. Working with toddlers at a young age taught me the patience I would need working with children. Years later I'm even more passionate about children and experienced with children aged 13 months to 15 years old, but I am also comfortable with younger infants. I can do anything that is expected from changing diapers and making sure your child is fed to helping with homework and getting them ready for bed. With amazing weather upon us, there are many kid-friendly activities to enjoy such as going to the parks, museums, shows, etc.

"We absolutely LOVE Isa — our family was so fortunate to have found her through UrbanSitter. I'm a first-time mom, and it took me a long time to find a full-time nanny I could trust to care for our sweet infant boy. Our boy connected with her immediately, and we couldn't have asked for anyone else to care for him. Her calming presence was also perfect for parents like us who work from home. We feel so lucky UrbanSitter helped us find someone who has truly become a part of our family."

"I was so stressed about finding a part-time nanny for my 14-month-old son, who has moderate separation anxiety and hadn't been left with anyone but family before, but we were both immediately at ease in Buhay's presence. Her empathy and commitment to understanding child development are apparent in every interaction I've witnessed between her and my toddler. I feel very lucky to have found her."

"Erna watched our now 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son for a few years. She is punctual, responsible, honest, and playful. What we appreciated most was that she was thoughtful in ensuring that we had a little break; for example, when the kids were clingy, she was able to divert their attention with games or songs or walks to the park. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids with Erna because of her caring nature and experience that spans a decade (including being a live-in nanny)."
